Interesting how Wolves and England have similar issues with getting 3 at the back to work out offensively for them, especially if the opposition is good at limiting what our wing-backs can do.

I compared England tonight to how Wolves played against Leicester.

Keep shape, stay solid and rely on 3 players up top to try and create and score. Very little attacking intent, just nice passes in the Belgium half without actually threatening.

They didn't even have to get out of 1st gear.

He isn't the best going forward or the best defensively but you could see Kyle Walker getting more and more frustrated as the game went on as the lack of movement and options available across the pitch was lacking. Week in, week out he has De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva, Mahrez, Sterling, Foden, Aguero, Jesus to pass to ... Tonight he had Henderson, Rice, Trippier and Mount.

England. Excellent at friendlies. Usual rubbish when it comes to competitions.

To be honest, I'd forgot it was on, after reading the comments on here rather glad I did.

Belgium never got out of second gear and looked comfortable all game. Any back 3 with Dier and Mings is never gonna be good enough. Mings especially is possibly one of the worst call ups for a good while I don't get the love in with him he's awful.

Greasy is a good player and played well but this talk of building a team around him is a bit embarrassing. You only do that with elite players and 'Jack' isn't quite frankly.

Grealish is undoubtedly a very good player but the one they should be building the side around is Foden.

To my mind, England are better playing a back four. The front three (Sterling, Kane, Rashford) and two of the midfielders (Henderson and Foden) would be relatively clear-cut leaving one space in midfield which would change depending on the opposition.

Against the lesser sides:

Foden, Henderson, Grealish/Mount
Sterling, Kane, Rashford

Against the better sides:

James, Henderson
Foden
Sterling, Rashford, Rashford

Just need to sort out the centre-backs and goalkeeper...

Henderson is undoubtedly an excellent player for Liverpool and whilst accepting we can’t just have a team of attacking players our balance is way off in midfield and it certainly shouldn’t include Declan Rice either .
We have zero creativity or pace in that central area.

Iceland are relegated,we can’t go through,no crowd ,risks of yet more injuries and then throw in the issues regarding quarantine for the opposition so what is the point other than tv money ?

Southgate suggesting premier league Reconsider 5 subs due to injuries FFS.

maybe don’t put a friendly 3 days before a competitive match then you fool

Aren't the European national football associations are following the schedule set by UEFA, meaning playing three games [friendly plus 2x Nations League games] during this window is formally required out of each country's control?

Just as long as they arrive back safe and not injured I’ve lost interest in these stupid international games

Malta v Faroe Islands. Whose with me?

It's actually a big match, Faroe Islands need a point to win the group, Malta would win the group with a low scoring one goal victory.

Nil nil after 17 mins.

Rui subbed off, presumably it was a planned change and not an injury
