Great watch. Loved Lofty's stories.
He was some player - was far ahead of his time - would have been miles better than grealish - shame he gave it all up but it's his life.Never really seen footage from the sixties. But that Knowles goal at 19:30 seemed so far ahead of its time
It was. As a Wolves fan growing up in the 60s I had little or no knowledge of this competition. It was a bit of an eye opener tbh and I wish the show could have been longer and more footage of the games. Perhaps my favourite Wolves forward line of all time - Wharton, Hunt, Dougan, Knowles and Wagstaffe. I didn't realise that the Yanks did not want drawn games so our final v Aberdeen ended 5-5 aet so it carried on till we got a winner - 6-5! Bonkers! I see Frank Munro scored 3 times for Aberdeen and I'm assuming we went on to sign him after this competition; I assume it's our Frank Munro - the best CH in all my Wolves -supporting years.Fantastic watch.
Yes indeed came here as midfield player but not quick enough, converted to centre half, what a skilful player he was when centre halves were big lumps that just defendedIt was. Sadly passed away some time ago. I assume Phil Parkes, Terry Wharton and Les Wilson are the only players left from that greatest of eras?Yes indeed came here as midfield player but not quick enough, converted to centre half, what a skilful player he was when centre halves were big lumps that just defended
My favourite player
From the LA squad, Mike Bailey, Peter Knowles and Alun Evans are still alive, although Bailey is unfortunately suffering from dementia.Sadly passed away some time ago. I assume Phil Parkes, Terry Wharton and Les Wilson are the only players left from that greatest of eras?
It's the full documentary. There will also be some extended interviews with some of the contributors on the website at some point in the future. Is this the whole film or a trailer?
Cheers for posting.
They have clips of some of the goals which makes me think they must have longer videos of the games. I for one would love to watch Peter Knowles in action alongside Waggy and the Doog. Before Nuno this was our last really great side and deserves to be shown if at all possible. It's the full documentary.
