Tottenham’s Son Heung-min has been congratulated by Mohamed Salah after a staggering welcome back to South Korea this week.

The race for the Premier League Golden Boot was well and truly on as the curtain came down on a sensational season.

Mohamed Salah was leading the way with 22 goals ahead of facing Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Son Heung-min was in second place on 21 goals and the two attackers went head-to-head for the Golden Boot trophy.

Son was given an immediate boost as Salah was left on the bench by Jurgen Klopp – and he so nearly took full advantage.

Son scored twice against Norwich City as Tottenham ran riot with a 5-0 win, securing Champions League football.

That took Son up to 23 goals, but Salah came off the bench to score against Wolves, matching Son’s tally.

What looked like a battle for the award ended with Son and Salah sharing the honours and receiving a trophy each.

Salah has been unbelievable this season but Son’s achievement may be more impressive given that he didn’t score a penalty all season.

Both players are simply world class and they deserve all the plaudits coming their way.

For instance, former Tottenham ace Kevin Wimmer praised Son for his exploits.

There have been touching scenes this week as Son returned to his home country of South Korea with his Golden Boot award.

Son was met with adoring fans who will be ecstatic to see their country represented like this in the biggest league in world football.

Park Ji-sung was a great servant to Manchester United but Son has surely overtaken him as South Korea’s greatest footballing icon.

Salah has now taken to Twitter to react to the video, congratulating Son as the pair share the award – and don’t be surprised to see them battle again next season.

Congratulations Sonny! https://t.co/lF4vgcSAXb
