I’m sure @giantwolf will know better than me but it feels like a big chunk of our loan players so far are going to be big players for their new teams. Seems like the days where our young players are bench fodder for teams are gone.
The long term approach, picking up youngsters with potential is starting to bear fruit. The next few years could be very exciting and profitable both financially and hopefully for the first team.

Blackpool and Plymouth. Two of my favourite Subbuteo teams as a child so always have a soft spot for them.

Ryan Giles could be playing against that lot from down the road today if selected. Another hattrick of assists, and maybe even a goal or two, would be a nice start to the Championship this season. C'mon Giles!!

Saturday (part 1):

Louie Moulden was back at Compton today as Solihull Moors took on Telford who were using our training base for a behind closed doors friendly between the two sides. Louie played 90 mins in the 2-2 draw

League action:

Dion Sanderson played 90 mins and was booked as Blues drew 0-0 away at Luton

Taylor Perry played 75 mins as Cheltenham let a two goal lead slip, losing 3-2 at home to Peterborough

Nigel Lonwijk, having only just joined Plymouth will need to wait for his debut as he was an unused substitute in their 1-0 win over Barnsley

Lewis Richards was also an unused substitute as Harrogate got off to a flyer, beating Swindon 3-0 at home

Fabio Silva came on at half time and hit the cross bar as Anderlecht lost 1-0 away at Cercle Brugge

Ki-Jana Hoever played 63 mins as PSV came out on top in an 8 goal Dutch Super Cup triller, beating Ajax 5-3

As above from @clivewolves Ryan Giles was MOTM as Middlesbrough drew 1-1 vs WBA. Ryan out in several excellent crossed however Middlesbrough we’re unable to capitalise

Leo Campana replaced Higuian (who scored a hat trick) on 69 mins as Inter Miami drew 4-4 vs Cincinnati. Unfortunately since Campana’s injury that’s 4 in 4 games for Higuain whom Campana had replaced in the Miami starting line up, so Campana might have to settle for sub appearances for a bit

Bendeguz Bolla played 90 mins and Kawabe assisted Grasshoppers goal (scored by ex wolf Renat Dadashov) in an 89 min appearance as Grasshoppers halted Young Boys 100% start to the season with a 1-1 draw

Highlights here…

Much to the delight of some of the PSV fans, Ki Jana Hoever was demoted to the bench in favour of their main right back (Mwene) who had been injured for 6 months as PSV drew 1-1 away at Monaco in their Champions League Qualifying game. Ki Jana wasn’t even brought on when Mwene went off after 74 mins, with the manager preferring the back up left back

They think Hoever sucks too, then.

Leonardo Campana started Inter Miami’s 1-0 win against San Jose but went off injured again after 22 mins. Seems this is a left thigh injury as opposed to a reoccurring of his MCL in the right knee which had kept him out of a couple of recent games

Fabio going out on loan is now looking like a stupider decision every week based upon the quality of the finishes and his movement so far…….

I know he is going to get more pitch time to aid his development, and that is a great thing but I believe he was on to have a much better season building on from last year’s positives in his all round play.

He was getting better every week last season and was subbed when others were contributing far less on a few occasions last season and with the new passing and movement up top we are playing into his strengths a lot more.

Kind of already discussed but as I do it for every loan match, here goes….

Fabio Silva made it two goals in three games as he scored on his first Anderlecht start in their Europa Conference League Qualifier away at Paide from Estonia. Silva played 80 mins which means his total minutes so far are already 15% of the minutes he played for Wolves last season

Goal here:

Big defensive gaps maybe but the lad needs credit for the finish

Saturday:

Ryan Giles played 90 mins and provided an assist for Middlesbrough’s first goal as they attempted to come back from 3-0’down away at QPR. Sadly that assist and several other excellent crosses weren’t enough for a comeback, Middlesbrough lost 3-2. Ryan was Boro’s MOTM.

Theo Corbeanu made an early appearance from the bench coming on in the 21st minute and playing the remainder of Blackpool’s 2-0 defeat at Stoke

Taylor Perry played 73 mins as Cheltenham’s difficult start to the season continued, losing 1-0 away at Barnsley

Nigel Lonwijk awaits his Plymouth debut as he was an unused substitute in their 2-1 defeat away at Fleetwood

Lewis Richards also awaits his second Harrogate debut as he was an unused substitute in their 3-0 defeat away at Crewe

Louie Moulden played 90 mins and made his official Solihull Moors debut as they beat Aldershot 4-1 away

Ki Jana Hoever played 90 mins as PSV beat FC Emmen 4-1 at home

Bendeguz Bolla and Hayao Kawabe both played 90 mins as Grasshoppers came from 2-0 down to beat St Gallen 3-2 at home. Bolla was booked and provided the assist for Grasshoppers first goal. Grasshoppers sit 3rd in the league at this early stage

Kawabe was outstanding.
