Journalist Pete O’Rourke has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are also eyeing a defensive ‘sensation’ alongside Leicester City, Crystal Palace and Wolves.

The Lowdown: Spurs planning…

In terms of major signings for the first team, it’s safe to say the Lilywhites have been majorly planning behind-the-scenes and making serious moves ahead of manager Antonio Conte’s first full season in charge of the Premier League side.

Indeed, Spurs have so far confirmed and sealed a plethora of incomings over what has been an unprecedented and busy summer window so far for the club.

Sporting director Fabio Paratici, has he continues to spin many plates, could even make more signings.

While the Italian club chief keeps busy in chasing Conte’s targets, it appears the ex-Juve director’s scouting team at Hotspur Way are also keeping tabs on some of the UK’s rising stars.

The Latest: O’Rourke makes Campbell claim…

According to reporter O’Rourke, Spurs have their eyes on a defensive ‘sensation’ in St. Mirren starlet Murray Campbell.

The teenage prodigy, however, is also being thought of at Leicester, Palace and Wolves with the in-demand youngster allegedly turning many heads across England.

The journalist stated, via Twitter:

“Tottenham and Southampton have joined the chase for St Mirren’s teenage sensation Murray Campbell. The likes of Leicester City, Crystal Palace and Wolves are also tracking the young defender.”

The Verdict: N17 academy thriving…

Having nurtured some top talent like Oliver Skipp and Dane Scarlett in recent seasons, adding a player of Murray’s reputation certainly won’t do Spurs’ future seasons any harm.

As Conte and co focus on the first team, it’s arguably just as important to make sure the Hotspur Way academy continues to thrive with the addition of fresh, hungry young talent.
