Bordeaux gone into administration. Financed by 'an investment management firm' who no longer wish to prop them up. Shows the dangers of such ownership and even more reason to try and move to a 50% +1 arrangement. Also maybe an opportunity to snap up some young talent like Basic and Kalu.

The bubble is bursting. Once banks realise that these loans arent so safe the clubs in europe are in dire situation

I know its how football is a business etc, but youre last sentence would make us the greedy vultures. Yet everyone says the 6 are greedy

You are right, of course, but some club or other will be looking to sign their better players cheaply...I recall how Tim Flowers was swiftly snapped up as we plunged down through the divisions.

I agree with you completely. Its just feeling like I do now about football, almost as invigorated as i have been. But talk of players and signings almost doesnt interest me in the slightest. Im not saying its you, or our club, but what happens when liverpool and arsenal go on a spending spree this summer i fear the backlash dies and fans go quiet again.

Fans need to work out what they want, do they just want to win and sign the best players, or do they want football to mean something more.
Unfortunately a lot of fans support these big clubs BECAUSE they are successful, so do they really care about the game? or do they just want to petty banter their mates. I fear its the latter.
Rant over that you didnt ask for on a thread about Bordeaux :tearsofjoy: :tearsofjoy: but just feel this is the moment otherwise we lose football forever and we would be complicit

To be fair, OP never said "on the cheap" ... so long as it's an agreeable figure to all, it's a chance to get players that otherwise might not be so readily up for sale.

It was reported Fosun nearly bought them before buying Wolves. Apparently, they had lined up Zidane to be the manager, but he joined Madrid before the takeover was complete and Fosun pulled out. I've sometimes wondered if they would have done the same with Wolves if Lopetegui had become Spain's head coach before the takeover was completed.

50+1 seems impossible to me. How would that work, fans going to stump up 2 Billion for 51% of the Glazers stake

With the French leagues TV deal going belly up on top of Covid related money issues, this might not be the last.

Never knew this, a quick google actually gives some interesting details, namely that they expected Bordeaux to be self sustaining financially after the first few years of propping up heavy losses. Something we're starting to see them do with Wolves.

I wonder what the Glazers would make of it if all the Man Utd fans got the funds together on debt in the clubs name and then got the club to finance and service the debt the way the Glazers did when they acquired the club.

The Glazers wouldn't sell the debt to them though?

If teams are badly run, well run clubs can poach their players. It’s only like attacking a team on the pitch focussing on their weakest player. If there are players that we can make a profit on or even better improve the squad then take advantage.

Some clubs have racked up a lot of debt thinking the golden gossse will be here forever. Well time to pay the bill. Trouble is a lot of other people will get causght up in the malaise eg small business that service these clubs.

They definitely look like legacy fans.

Question is, which club?

I’ll go for Bristol ROverS
You worked hard for that post. Recognition due.

Coincidentally, I heard that as Bordeaux’s owners were leaving, they were playing ‘I Owe You Nothing’

Hard.work reciprocated.

We're owned by a firm that specialises in speculation. They manage private equity funds which is, IMO, about the ****iest a business can be. This isn't how they view us as an investment but the fans who love them are deluded I think.

The 6 have exposed themselves in a way Fosun are too smart to do.

Beautiful city??? You need to get out more :)
Went there once, thoroughly disapointing.
I've always found it a very pleasant city. I wouldn't go sa far as the links below, but great weather, clean, lots to do and great food and wine
