Despite interest from Wolves and Atletico Madrid , talks have been ongoing with his club, Sao Paulo, over the last week with only final details left to arrange.
The 19-year-old is set to arrive at the Emirates Stadium for a cut-price fee due to uncertainty over his contract at the club, with the Brazilian side vulnerable to losing him for nothing.
However Marquinhos isn’t the only Brazilian on the club’s radar.
Arsenal are also considering a move to sign Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City.
The 25-year-old has enjoyed a good season at the Etihad Stadium having scored 13 goals and creating 12 more for Pep Guardiola’s side.
Jesus is looking for guarantees over his playing time, and with City bringing in Erling Haaland this summer, it means that he may be looking elsewhere to satisfy his needs.
The player’s agent, Marcelo Pettinati, has confirmed interest from the Gunners and admitted that the player ‘like the project’ on offer.
He said: “We had talks with Arsenal about Gabriel Jesus, we like the project – it’s a possibility we’re discussing.
“There are six more clubs interested in Gabriel – he’s focused on final games with Man City, we’ll see.”
It is understood the Premier League leaders want as much as £50m for Jesus and Arsenal are expected to make a bid in the coming weeks.
Sky Bet: Man City, Aston Villa & Leicester all to win – boosted to 5/1 (from 4/1)
