I still struggle to see us having a strong enough bench especially if we get injuries or suspensions. Most other teams seems to have strengthened from last season especially Porn Spammers and Nudecastle.
I think we would do well as it stands at the moment to be mid table and hope that some of our prospects break through next season.
Signing Nunes and Batshuayi, and only selling Coady, squad would be looking like:

Sa/Sarkic
Semedo/Jonny
Collins/Boly/Mosquera
Kilman/Gomes
RAN/Jonny/Bueno
Neves/Moutinho/Ronan
Nunes/Dendoncker
MGW/Traore/Campbell
Podence/MGW
Neto/Hwang
Jimenez/Batshuayi

Sa
Semedo Collins Kilman RAN
Neves Nunes
MGW Podence Neto
Jimenez

Bench - Sarkic, Boly, Gomes, Jonny, Moutinho, Dendoncker, Hwang, Traore, Batshuayi

Seems like a strong bench to me, permitting we sign Batshuayi and Nunes (or similar calibre midfielder).

That’s another way to look at it isn’t it.

Haven’t lost any first team starters bar Saiss.

It’s just strength in depth we need and are a whisker away from having a great team.

Also a whisker away from the footballing equivalent of the end of Thelma and Louise.
I always thought that was like a lesbian love story, so never watched it. Had friends come over for dinner and we had to name a great road movie. My best mate’s Mrs said Thelma and Louise…that was an awkward 5 minutes!

I'd be happy with Batshuayi and Gonzalez (both on loan) and Hwang2 as back up striker at 5 million. A strong squad and no need to spend a fortune.
Ideally would prefer we signed a quality midfielder that wasn't on loan, given we're effectively developing a player for Barcelona in that circumstance, unless there was an option in that loan. Barca are renowned for putting buy-back clauses in all their outgoing loans though... maybe a tad more realistic than expecting us to spend £30-40m on a midfielder though, really do feel like it's the missing piece of the jigsaw from having a very competitive squad that could surprise a few and potentially push for top six.

Agreed, but everything in good time.
Lets unload the likes of Bonatini, Cutrone, Bruno Jordao (and maybe Boly, Traore and Coady) before we start thinking about spending 30-40 million on a player.

If we sign Batshuayi or Brereton Diaz and keep Neves and MGW, we at least start the season stronger than we finished the last. I think it’s telling that Silva doesn’t seem to feature in Lage’s plans. I have a feeling the loan to Anderlecht could be intended to raise his profile with regular game time, with a potential sale coming next summer. In my opinion, MGW’s ability and what he can he add to the team is clear to see and I just don’t see the same signs with Silva. Hope I’m wrong re Silva though!!!

Boly is a liability. Mosquera barely played any senior football in South America, never mind here.
Bueno - an u23 with no senior game time
Ronan - maybe …who knows
Campbell - as above

I think you are over positive - looks very thin to me

Bueno only plays if we have two full backs injured, Ronan only plays if we have two midfielders injured (assuming we sign one), and Campbell only plays if two forwards are injured. I think you're expecting too much depth. That's a squad of 21 if you exclude Campbell, Bueno and Ronan. Too many in a squad can also have an adverse effect on team morale with too many players warming the bench.

I think we have more than enough depth, if we can get another quality midfielder and Batshuayi in.

Marcial to Brighton is a great move for them. He's lost his way at utd as they were just a bit too big for him but he's got some talent. Much better than the Chelsea lad we're looking at

If we announced him tonight could he be on the bench tomorrow?

It’ll depend on whether he was signed before the deadline today. They can announce whenever they want, but the paperwork has to be in before a certain time.

Re Silva, If that happens it'll be a massive egg on Shi's face. Would we get 35m for him?

Agree completely. It is an absolute nonsense that some count the likes of Bueno and Mosquera as good cover when they have not played a professional minute for us or barely anybody else.

Looks good to me. Big big ask to get nunes I think. I missed the sporting game - how did he look compared to our midfielders??

Genuine question, top six apart how do other teams look for cover in all positions?

difficult to say as the window is still open for everyone, plus would need a pretty strong knowledge of every teams reserves and youth. We know bueno and cundle would only be used in an emergency thus our bench looks weak currently because we know our own players. You would have to know the equivalents for other teams

He doesn’t want to live in England.

We will end up releasing him on a free, one of the worst signings in the clubs history.
But he's being linked with Rangers..... Is Scotland ok for him???

There are actually some fairly deep connections between Scotland and Italy, which large groups of both in each country.
I know that there are numbers of people of Italian origin in Glasgow and Edinburgh (my ex was of Italian origin). I wasn't aware of many Scots in Italy.

Oh well if he’s being linked then it must be true! I mean who would go onto the internet and tell lies?!
In all honesty l don't know enough about Scottish football to know how credibile these are.
