The rumour was he was very interesting in joining the club this summer, provided it kept its Championship status. He had apparently held talks with Stale. Scored 19 goals in 22 premiership league games in Holland, scored 23 in 24 appearences in all comps. Compared to van Nistelrooy in dutch media today.

Just watched some videos on this guy...he looks class. Him and siggy could have done some serious damage together. Alas we will never see it though because of the two Mr Mannerings:-) probably the biggest what if during my time as a wolves fan:-(

Who 'hounded' Stale out? I don't recall any Solbakken out songs, or badges given away with fanzines etc.

Why do folk have to sensationalise everything?

He hounded himself out with his stubbornness and lack of imagination when things were getting worse week after week. We all slag DS off but he has been changing things ( probably too much ) but he's been changing things to find whatever may work. Stale $$$$ed himself over. He's failed in his last 2 jobs now so doubt we'll hear much of him again

Stale should have adapted to the championship, closing down, playing wingers, etc, and then gradually brought in better players and new ways of playing over the course of the season and next one.
Part of me is gutted that we will never get this sort of player now, but post Luton it was looking pretty bleak. The majority werent calling for Solbakken's head, even around the time of Luton away, we were still singing his name. Wish we could have him back as a DoF post Morgan/ Moxey.

The name is originated in Ireland, has been passed on from slaves who where brought to Iceland around 1000 ac but I doubt that qualifies him . Iceland's population is said to be of half celtic and half norse ancestry. The majority of Icelandic women are said to have more Celtic genes than Nordic.

Future signings will be much more one dimensional imv. Saunders will have very little knowledge of the Continental market and our scouting team as usual is poorly represented abroad. The new chief scout may improve things but Saunders will want to stay close to home on signings imv competing for all the more obvious UK players and probably losing out to bigger better paying rivals. McCarthy Mark 2. Say what you like about Stale but I reckon he would have come up with some good signings in January. Only snag for the two Ms - they might have cost money.
