Annual Awards Dinner
Just got an email from the Club giving me the chance to win tickets to the AAD on 9 May at the Telford International Centre - 4 days before our relegation becomes official! The lucky winner will get a 4 course meal, the chance to sit with 2 of the team and the chance to present the award to the top goalscorer. According to the blurb the evening will be a sell out. After this season I'd not bank on it! The only thing I'd enjoy about the evening would be the food! I expect I'd have the Egg and Dave Edwards on my table and I think it's a pretty safe bet that SF will win the top goalscorer award and during his acceptance speech perhaps he'll tell us which Prem club he hopes to join! I don't know if any of you on here will be going (I think tickets are £99????) but I will politely turn down this opportunity to attend what will probably be a pretty embarrassing and subdued evening?!

Was it West Ham last year where it ended in a massive punch up?!

I had two email from Wolves over the past couple of weeks that made me smile, the first wanted to know if I enjoyed the Manchester United game, and the second had the subject "Wolves Memorial Service. We shall remember them" I thought that was quite apt.

Annual awards dinner should be a right barrell of laughs! I don't think you could pay me to go this year.

Will many bother to enter.
Winning tickets to such an award is hardly something to look forward to. Suppose the only plus is the winner could get to tell the wasters representing the club what they thought of them.

The awards dinner should be cancelled. How the players or the club can celebrate what has happened this season is beyond a joke. Donate any proceeds for the event or awards to charity.

I've heard the list of awards are different this season. There's no goal of the season because we don't score enough to make a shortlist.
Players $$$$head of the year. Fans $$$$head of the year. Defensive error of the year - Too many nominations to list. Best 5 yard pass of the season........ No one will win that. No one made one. Best impression of a pub footballer in a single game Manager of the year............ Who'd have thought McCarthy would be favourite for this a month or so ago! The Jez Moxey Golden Pie For Services To Dross - A special award designed to 'honour' the person responsible for the most monumental $$$$ up of the year.

I'll go if anyone's got a ticket. I'll sit between Ms. Lloyd and Mrs. Johnson, bang their heads together until they promise never to tweet again, and then get off with Ethel the Tea Lady

It's staggering that they're still going ahead with this nonsense considering the shambolic mistakes of the last 6 months or so. What they should do is give at least 100 places away for free to season ticket holders, randomly selected. In fact, IMO they should cover the cost themselves and let everyone in for free.

I do realise that this won't happen because there are too many people who are easily impressed and would love the chance to sit next to the O'Hara's so they can brag to their friends about it, but wouldn't it be fantastic if not a single supporter bought a ticket for this? That would send a message to the idiots in charge and the negative press Morgan and Moxey would get if they had to cancel it would be very satisfying (to me at least).

I am surprised people are wondering why we are having an awards dinner.
Dinner = more money for the club enough said. It's a shame that the players don't give something back to the fans. Would it really be that hard for them to club together and pay for away travel for one game .

Don't forget, you'll also get to be the first people to see the new Burrda home kit...

I saw the club advertising on Facebook the other day and I replied telling them to cancel it ASAP.
The mix of drunken fans, $$$$ players and a board that have not got a clue then it was surely the right thing to do as it would end up in a punch up. |

Cancel it. Unless we stay up. Assuming we go down, its a $$$$ take which could turn ugly partic if we are relegated before the Wigan game.

I heard they're struggling with tickets. They're drafting Mick McCarthy in as VIP Guest. That should sell a few tickets.

Put a load of custard pies on display. Fans would be queuing round the block to chuck them at the management and players who have made such a hash of this season.

I hope the fans go mad like these recent meetings at Port Vale.
I know it's not the same situation but a lot of us are currently mad or will be come the end of the season. |

Telford International Centre is literally 5 minutes walk from my house. I still wouldn't go to it if you paid me.

Another regrettable manifestation of #progress'in the game. I reemember the days when you voted in a slip in the match programme for the lst but one home game and winner was announced at last game of season. Player of the year trophy in those days always seemed to be a golden boot produced by Becketts Jewellers Queen street
Some realisjm/honesty amongst marketing/PR depts at football clubs would be great. How about our PA guy departing from the usual mindless 'our team' make some noise' schtick to stuff like goal to NAME OF OPPOSITION...I could see that coming...Bloody Johnson eh? Now that would be worth paying to see/hear. |

I reckon he would be acracking after dinner speaker. If intellectual giants such as Alan Brazil can make money from it I am damn sure our ex manager could.
