Where's the option for playing "Decent football and stop up"? Or even, play "okish football and stay up"?

Stay up absolutely any way possible. Worry about pretty stuff next season.
Daft question if you ask me but I do fathom why you asked.

There isn't one. Could be way off track but I think that's the point Glasgow is trying to make. Forgive me if I'm wrong.

I'm not voting then. Of course, if we play dire football all season, then stay up, excellent.
The problem is though, the season isn't particularly enjoyable and going to games can come quite depressing, especially in winter.

I like to go to games to see fast, exciting football, not disjointed rubbish. But Saying that, football is all about points, you can play beautiful football and lose, so who knows.

It's a shame there can't be a inbetween.

thats the point at results are more important whilst all of us want fast flowing football this season is about 1 thing and 1 thing only.

Only the top 6 play fast flowing beautiful football. The rest of us work hard grind it out and hope to have enough points to stay up.

If I had payed extortionate prices I would want good football!

As I don`t pay extortionate prices I want good football!

For Wolverhampton Wanders I want them to do well!

There lies the conundrum!

stay up however we can. But I don't think playing poor football and scraping and fighting will be enough to keep us up.

We wont be playing freeflowing attackig exciting football. But we do need to play a decent quality of football to creat the chances and score the goals to win enough games to stay up

No question for me. Stay up any way possible as the way we're heading if we go down I don't see a way back imminently.

The thing is, I'm not convinced the second season would be any different from the first.

second option.

I see little point in playing pretty, non effective football, Christ we had enough of that under Hoddle. Hopefully if we can fluke it this year, and lets face it we will need a fair chunk of luck i think, we can kick on next season and start to play some football again.

As a side note Im in the camp that believe we havent played good, expansive football (consistently!!) since the mid point of last season. We played well in the odd game during the back end of last season and mostly during 10 or 15 minute spells in games this season.

Its all about digging in for now.

What you call 'bad football' is effective football; it's about getting the basics right. No amount of flair football can compensate for a leaky defence getting mugged every weekend. That's more dispiriting than seeing points on the board.

Somehow in a poll with two choices my brain managed to make me click on the wrong option. What a stupid ****! Work is clearly getting in the way of my web browsing today.

In spite of my vote it is a no brainer for me - we need to do whatever we can to retain our Premier League status. If we play unattractive football then so be it. We need a platform to build on and we can worry about being pleasing on the eye in due course.

neither am i to be honest, a lot of teams find it harder in the second season, equally a lot of teams manage to progess. What I dont want to hear on here in the build up to next year is this 'we cant get X players in becuase their higher wages will upset current memebers of the squad,' that just wont wash with me next year, should we stay up and IF we want to kick on.

The problem is we are not effective with are $$$$e football we play thats the difference. We have the worse goal difference, scored the least amount of goals and have one of the worse defences in the league.

The tactics and the players that are picked are truly woeful. I could see your point if we were mid-table, winning games, scoring goals etc but we are not doing any of that. The manager is making a rod for his own back and will deserve the sack because this mess could have been prevented.

Stay up at all costs, no brainer.

We don't need pretty football but we need effective football. But the set-up of the team - to start a game intending not to lose is a fine line to tread because if we go a goal down we have no plan B to get back in.
Our lone ranger striker cannot do it all by himself and we cannot rely on the Anthony Gardner's of this world to get us back into a match and we can't rely on the likes of Hull coming out after halftime and sitting back like they have been doped.

Either the players he picks do not have the skills to work to the system or they don't understand it.

As we stand, if/when Doyle gets injured we don't have a prayer.

When you can prove playing bad football will guarantee premier football next season, then I'll vote for it.

All true im sure but the amount of points we collate during the course of the season will dictate whether we stay up or not, nothing else (except maybe goal difference). The points you raised suggest that we aint very good at this level and well, no we are not really are we, yet we still have a fighting chance of staying up. Isnt that the point of this thread rather than whinging yet again about how $$$$e we are???

Stay up of course.

The grumbling starts when you play bad football & get bad results, which I think we will Sunday.

Level on points with Hull but above them

Ask the Bolton fans of the past 10 years the same question & see what kind of response you get.

Stay up at all costs, play "sexy football" if possible but staying up is the main thing we need to achieve.

I asked this question for one reason and one reason only....

Everyone is complaining about our football yet we are outside the bottom 3 with a better goal difference than 3 other teams how can things be so bad

Well, I'm hoping that professional pride will make them play out of their socks on Sunday after that performance against Palace.

depends who is doing the kicking.

As things stand, we have two people who would prefer we play like the samba boy's but get relegated doing so, one was a mistake, who on gods green earth is the other.

Reasons why we are moaning; lack of goals, crap defence, no creativity, shocking tactics, square pegs in round holes, wasted money in the summer, horrendous January shopping window, PR Stunts etc

You still don't get it do you. All of what you say may be true, I agree with a lot of the above points myself, but the point of this thread (reading between the lines) is that we can be all of those and still be in with a shout of staying up. Would you be happy with that? Whats your view on the question asked?
