Cant argue with his choice of Mike Bailey as the best Wolves captain in the last 40 yrs, the bloke was immense and would have been an England regular had he played for Spurs or Arsenal.

MKP, join in next time the Q&A involves one of your heroes. There's also likely to be the chance for posters to either suggest or vote on future players you like to see answering questions. The more posters who contribute to this whole idea, the better.

That's going to be a good article. Is it a once a month thing?

Roughly so ich, yes, and as I said above, the more posters who become involved the better it will be. Possibly anniversaries of significant matches or events in the club's history will also lead to particular players being asked at a specific time.

Waggy, Kenny, Bailey.........JR (one appearance)........we just weren't fashionable enough.

Hard to believe but football was even more of a clique then than it is now.....

Like MKP, these were my heroes also. Enjoyed the article. Love watching the 74 League Cup Final and love hearing Mike describe collecting the trophy on the Wolves history dvd . . . 'turning round slowly and seeing The Old Gold and showing it to them' . . .What a great Captain and what a wonderful team!

Don't spoil this thread MC.... but if you actually read the articles you will see that John is answering questions on his time as MD in the second part still to come.

Sorry and thanks.

I was merely alluding to the fact that most Wolves fans below a certain age don't know that JR was the second highest goalscorer in the history of the club and they have never actually heard his justification of his judgement on the Keane transfer. They mostly don't care about either of these things.

Me too Brussels, can't wait for part two when John was MD.

The questions reminded me of a JR incident at Molineux. John told the story on his video about what happened at the final whistle of the Wolves v Chelsea match at the end of the 1976/77 season.

Wolves fans invaded the pitch and one fan ripped his shirt off his back for a souvenir. Years later a Wolves fan introduced himself to John outside Molineux and reminded him about having his Wolves shirt pinched at the Chelsea match. Then the fan confessed to John that it was infact he who had ripped it off - but not to worry as his shirt is still hanging on his bedroom wall!

Great read. I recently watched the '74 League Cup Final again & I thought Frank Munro was immense that day. You only have to look at the City forward line to realise what a great job he & the rest of the Wolves defence did.
Wish we had him now !!

Good answers. It's amazing though how chinese whispers can change everything from dates to facts.

Even Richards gets one wrong himself there..Keane went to Inter for £13million, not 11.

Why did he and Dougan fall out anyway, after Richards had already left?

Anybody know the answer to this? It is on 'record' apparently.

John is referring to the book 'Doog' by Steve Gordos and David Harrison with his 'on record' comment.

My Dad used to go mad about ' The Cat' and Johnny Hancocks! He said that if Hancocks had the ball 20-30 yards out, he'd look at the goal, drop his head over the ball and then 60,000+ would roar knowing a 'pile driver' was coming any second! Wouldn't it be great to re-create that atmosphere?
