Why cant we keep our best players if the likes of West Ham, Newcastle and Albion did when they were relegated? |

£34M less in Sky money than this season! They all sold a lot of players. Secret was to replace them with better but cheaper players on lower wages

I expect that Nolan was not cheap for WHU, unless he was particularly anxious to work with Big Sam again.

If the players have it written in their contract that if we get relegated their wages drop why are worried about the wage bill? if the sky money is that great and we are going to lose millions because of relegation is Morgan the successful businessman we are led to believe? Too many ifs and buts at this club and that is a good recipe for the lack of growth we have seen. |

Stephen Hunt on Irish television on Saturday night said that the club was well placed financially to hold onto the players we have. He did say that there were some players who may want to move because they believed that they were 'Premiership standard'. He didn't elaborate on who they were. Speculation on my part would be Doyle (already spent a number of years in the Championship with Reading), Jarvis (to stay in line for further English caps), O'Hara (because we just don't appreciate him), Hennessy (if he really is as good as some of you think he is) Fletcher (because he is good) and Henry. My own opinion is that all of these players may well stick it out until the January transfer window to see if the club can make it straight back up. Of course a new manager may decide to offload one or two of these players to bring in individuals who he has worked with previously or ones he considers better long term investments.

Why would Hunt know?

Because the players will talk to one another, he might not know what financial state we're in (though he'll have a better idea than 99.999% of people), but he will know who's unsettled and making noises about leaving.

Surprised this article hasn't been mentioned. Kightly comes across as the eloquent, level-headed lad we all know he is;
