Gareth Bale.....The new Steve Kindon
Similar kick and chase style to our own Steve Kindon!

He went on a run in the first half that was pure Kindon in his prime.....kick past dwfener and chase.... Our Tank uses to do that but he would generally keep on running up the terraces!

Bale isnt fast enough.
Read many years ago that Burnley brought in Berwyn Jones, GB sprinter, to teach the players to run faster and Steve Kindon beat him in a sprint race, from the Sunday Times circa early 70's |

If Kindon was the Tank what would you call Bale? Ford Ka?

Steve Kindon won a trophy for being the fastest footballer, sometime around 76/77.

Too young to know who Steve Kindon was but guess he was a bit like Mo Camara? Just ran, and ran, and ran down the line as fast as he could?

Similar in some ways, but Kindon was probably a better player (just). If the gates at the end of the Ground were left open, Kindon would have carried on going. Think he had been a bit of a rugby league player in his early days and he probably would have made a decent winger at either code!

Didn't always have the ball under control or know what to do with it when he arrived. Bit yampy really.

He still is Edgmond. Does a great after dinner talk.

Surely that's because he looks like something from Planet of the Apes?

I see where the Mo Camara similarity is.

'Kindo' didn't have a turning circle and used to run in straight lines. He was a rugby player before he started his football career with Burnley. They had a great youth system and we also bought a winger from them in Dave Thomas when John Barnwell was our manager. Thomas was bought to supply the crosses for Andy Gray but he didn't stay long.
Kindon was like lightning when he got going and we bought him as a winger. He was converted to a striker but never quite made it to the top. He's now a very funny after dinner speaker and I've seen him a few times. He must still live locally. He's a big lad! |

Yes, brilliant, I see it!
However, Bale is better, but uglier. I was amazed when I saw Bale at Molinuex this season. He really is a big bugger. Last edited by Michellis; 17-04-2012 at 19:09.. |
