I think that spinmeister Moxey has a hand in this cheerful thread.

Roll on August? Unless you've got a nice holiday booked what's to look forward to?

Relegation battle looming. No fire power and only a young kid to spark the midfield. Were doomed I tell ye.

so without the knowledge of who we will bring in you have written the season off as a relegation battle, very intelligent thinking, its not even june yet FFS

On the face of it, that is a really sensible post.

However, at Wolves, common sense does not come into it. You seem to have conveniently forgotten that both Moxey and Hoddle appear to have written off promotion already - and they have an idea of who we will bring in.

Wolves are a Championship club with nearly 12000 STH's sold before the season end. Plus the chance that many of the late STH's will put their hands in their pockets again before August and the sale of tat from the club shop, lotteries, phone lines, etc. Plus a possible windfall from the sale of Lescott. Therefore, at the level we are completing we should not be a poor club.

Telling us to "lower our expectations" is a cheek. Little clubs with few fans have to have low expectations. Clubs the size of Wolves in the second division have the right to "expect" a play-off place at minimum. Personally I'll lower my expectations when Hod and the Mox lower their wages!

Huh, that sounds like a post that is actually telling it like it is. Surely you have to take into account that we're now bankrupt, likely to start the season with minus 10 points and will struggle to be competing with Colchester.

When the first home game of the season starts there will be around 20000 Wolves fans in the ground. The vast majority will have demands much higher than Moxey apparently wants them to have. Indeed, they won't take lightly being told they have to suffer rubbish "because there's no money". Like me they'll look around at the paying audience and think "where's the money gone?"

If Wolverhampton Wanderers are now a poorer Championship club than their equivilents ( ie Cov, Leics, Derby, etc ) then we're not just talking about SJH stopping his yearly gifts, we're talking financial incompetence at the very least.

people on here seem to love being negative, all this talk of a relegation battle is just rubbish. we have no money, so what?
if we are in mid table it will be a good season, and this is going on the squad we have left at this moment in time.
as has been said, its not even june yet and people are going crazy.

all the conspiracy theories about the money dissapearing are just bo//ocks. the money has gone on the training ground and wages, simple as.

its our own stupid fault we agreed to pay the wages of players like kennedy at such high rates, and now the belt is tightened i doubt he will stay.

we have lived beyond our means for long enough. we havent been a big club for 25 years. i dont know why people cant accept this.

i have seen 1 season of top flight football since i started this sharade of following wolves 11 years ago. we are where we are because we deserve to be.

we have an adequate 1st division squad who will finish midtable at best

So much negativity...at least try to enjoy supporting Wolves??? I know it was hard to do this last season, but that is over. Let's hope the chopping continues and we have a few new faces brought in as well. At least give Hoddle the chance to make these changes and if it goes tits up, then I'm sure I will join in with the voices of disgust.

Call me a happy clapper or whatever but last season is over. Hoddle is here to stay, get used to it and get behind the club.

stuj4z
14-05-2006, 16:11
right behind you brummie. there are too many people on here who seem to enjoy all the bitterness and depression. we have to accept what we are, and that is not a big club. we still have a squad that is better than a lot of other teams and we could still go up next season but midtable is where i think we'll finish.

Can we put to bed this myth that in this division we are not a big club. YES WE ARE, they don't come much bigger than us in this league. Even with cutbacks we should be able to put together a budget to reach the play-offs, if we can't then there is something very, very wrong with the club.

Hoddle and Moxey aren't asking us to lower expectations, they are asking us to accept failure, and when the fans stop objecting to that, then our future really will look very bleak. Anyone who doesn't think we can compete with the likes of Watford, Preston or Sheffield United really doesn't know this club at all.

Agreed. As soon as we lower our expectations then we accept mediocrity. We are right to be outraged when the team doesn't deliver the goods. Even with the so-called cut backs we will still have more money/more expensive players than 90 percent of the division.
Play offs should be an abslolute $$$$$$$**g minimum requirement.

In 22 seasons nothing has changed, but at least we havent shouted we will walk the league, and the usual bravado that we usually get. I'm pleased at the way we have handled the whole situation. I think there is money to spend, I think there is money for wages, but we are playing the market very well - everyone thinks we are a club in financial meltdown when it couldnt be farther from the truth. we are just going to pay the going rate the same as anyone else. Bluff and double bluff.

Ah Stewarton, so you think it's a fiendish plot by Mad Mox? Hmm... Could be.... nothing else coming out of the Mol makes sense at the moment.

It does require us to believe that there is something rational going on in the minds of SJH, the Boy Hayward, the Other One and Mad Mox. That's a bit more difficult!
If it's true it's better than the other story, being put about by the Mox, that our finances are on a par with Walsall's!

If we were really in the mire then Moxey and Hoddle would be down the road on their combined salarys of £850k.
