Prem teams lining up to take him....back of E&S
If true, thank you for gracing the golden palace, you have truely been one of the greatest defenders i have ever seen and deserve to better yourself, just a shame it isnt with us! you deserve to play at the top level, and i wish you all the luck in the world!
This could also be a positive move for the club, an opportunity to bring in players with new ambition and determination.

I think its obvious that he'll be going now. Shame he never graced the Prem with us, but lets hope we get a decent price for him to fund some rebuilding.

Johny..couldn't agree more with you. From VERY early on, i said to my son and everyone else that Lescott would play for England. Maybe he's lost a bit of pace since his operations, but he still will if he goes to the right club..and he deserves it.
we'll miss him after tomorrow.

shame to see him go, but it's inevitable really. he has more ambition than this club unfortunately

If he goes I hope its to a 'big' Premiership team. Would be gutted if he joined one of the newly-promoted teams. Hope he gets a break a someone like Middlesborough perhaps to replace Ehigou or Southgate. I'd be upset if he joined Reading, probably because it would just hit home that their a 'bigger club' than us now. Either way I won't begrudge him a move to the Premiership but I really hope he stays- but where's the incentive, it's not as though we look like we can mount a serious promotion challenge, and that's why I think he'll probably be off.

Good but not great and I don't think he'll ever play for England. If we can get good money then we should sell. I think you can pick up solid centre backs at this level for not a lot of dosh and that is all we need. There are far more important areas that need strengthening.
He's lost a yard of pace, we're doing the right thing.
agreed tbh
whilst he is still a cut above most in the championship he is nowhere near the player he was 3 years ago in my opinion and its up to him now to progress onto the next level- wherever he goes it will be enourmously difficult for him to come anywhere near the england set up with the number of quality centre backs in the current crop
wish the guy the best of luck if the inevitable happens and that we get as much cash as possible because we need it

It's a real pity that he isn't the player he once was as it's the difference between getting 4-5m and now getting about 2m.
And whatever we get how much will be reinvested in players?

half a mill if we're lucky. Like the guy said hoddle hasn't bought any young up and coming players in the lower leagues, he wasted it on frankowski soon to be 32 and who has none in 15. I don't trust hoddle with money like i didn't trust mark mcghee, colin lee, graham taylor and the rest of the them. We have to change the culture but we need a new chief scout because george foster has done nothing in the last 10 years, and we need a football person on the board.

Looking at it from a player point of view....Lescott needs to go to further his career and become a better player. If he wants to fulfil any ambitions he may have he needs to be playing in the Prem...no question.
I'm always sad to see good young players leave but playing in the Championship is not going to test him and he's now at that critical age where he has to put himself first.
Robbie Keane is evidence of what can be achieved and although I regret the powers that be didn't have the ability to see he was the guy we should make a team around, it's different for a defender.
IMO, Hoddle would have been the ideal manager for Keane but we now live in a results orientated world and Wolves simply haven't achieved what they should have done.
Good luck to Jolean whereever he ends up ......but I hope it ain't Villa....cos that won't do him much good.

We do need the money, BUT lets hope Goddle doesn't waste it on more players in the calibre of Frankowski, Ricketts, Anderton etc, if he does then Lescott sale will not only weaken the defense but the whole team.

Lol!!! 2.5/3 m! you're having a laugh, 2 million tops and that's only if it turns into a bidding war between a couple of prem clubs
My fear is that any funds from a Lescott sale will go the way of the Robbie Kean money. Recent history (going for Tomasz 'goal machine' Frankowski rather than any number of promising young strikers from the lower leagues) suggests that it will.

I reckon we're talking £2.5m tops for JLo. But reading this quote from Warnock, lets hope it's about Lescott!!!
"I think we need to increase the squad defensively. We have targets in mind and we are looking everywhere but in England it is very expensive - we are not close to signing anyone at the moment. We have made an offer for one player but they want £5m for him".

Well i hope Moxey has got more brains than some of the jokers on here who think £2m for lescott would be a good deal.
We put a £5m tag on him- if no one wants to pay that then tough $$$$, we keep him and he leads the new wolves team next season. Why does everybody think we have to sell him? We don't. We are not that short of money.

He's lost a yard of pace and therefore it's in our interests to sell. He's not a leader of a defensive liine, which is what we need. His wages are very high and so it makes sense to sell. We might never get 3 million again. I don't trust hoddle with any proceeds as he wasted it on frankowski who has made no impact.

Who exactly benefits when we get big fees for our players? Not the supporters, so don't get too excited.
The player's cut, the agent's cut, Moxey's performance bonus and the manager's overinflated salary all have to be paid out of any fees we get.

There is no point in selling Lescott for less than £4m. If we can't get that then keep him for another promotion push. £2m is peanuts these days and those suggesting that is enough for one of the top young defenders in the country are idiots. Dawson, when still very raw, went for £4m and if we get any less for that it wil be a scandal as far as I am concerned.
I would much rather we kept him as he is Wolves through and through and along with Murray, Davies, Little, Jones, Riley, Cornes etc we have an excellent pool of home talent to build on. But Wolves have failed abysmally and Lescott's sale like Keane's wil epitomise the appalling failure of the club to even keep up with the likes of Charlton, Blackburn, West Ham, Wigan, Bolton etc over so many years. Lescott does need a bigger challenge and Wolves show no signs of breaking the cycle of failure so I expect him to go.
West Ham sold their crown jewels and still recovered. So there is always hope. But they invested in bright young talent mainly, something we rarely if ever do. Whatever we get for Lescott you can guarantee the money will be wasted yet again. Frankowski £1.4m - what a joke. 32 this summer, not one goal and worth virtually nothing in a year's time. Olo, Seol, Silas Craddock, a mere £5.6m frittered away (not counting wages), for instance. Classic Wolves economics and transfer dealing. And people wonder why we have no money.

Curtis Davies, one full season of Division one standard football, 6 games at Championship level = £3m
Lescott should be worth atleast £4m with add-ons.

JLo hasn't gone anywhere yet and unless the right money is offered he may yet still stay but should he go it's not the end of the world.
Personally I believe Wolves have enough central defenders who are good enough for life in the CCC and the sale of JLo, should it happen, will hopefully see funds put back into the squad.
