Oh well, its Allardyce then. I'll be happy with that as Bolton wont recover from him leaving.

McClaren is favourite. The compromise that no-one appears to want. :(
Looks to me like the English media circus have hounded Scolari out of the job before he even agreed to take it, nice going by the boys from the Sun, Mirror, Star etc. Still, apart from the one who is using the English newspaper reporters brain cell for the day, they will be blissfully unaware of their involvement.
I just hope that McClaren didn't think that he was going to have a quiet Bank Holiday.

i really wanted him as england manager but once again the fa and the media $$$$ it all up. now we'll have to go for a second rate manager who knows he wasn't first choice.

The paparazzi don't give a flying $$$$$ if England succeed- as long as it shifts copies for them. Only in this country would a tabloid reporter put out a sting operation on the current manager.
Big Phil would have soon publicly told the press to go $$$$$ themselves, so he may not have lasted long, anyway...

Me too mate. Winning the World Cup with Brazil is irrelevant - we are not and never will be as strong a footballing nation as Brazil. How the hell will he coach the players to slow down to pedestrian pace.
McLaren is the right choice - for continuity. The way he took control of the tactics against Basel and Steaua was very impressive.
4-4-2 to 4-3-3 to 4-2-4 to 2-4-4 to win the two games!!
With the best players in the country, it will be easier to pick a side than for his over-achieving Boro side. We shouldn't blame McLaren when Sven's decsions hold sway. Man Utd haven't been as good since he left either. He is a highly qualified coach without the ex-player ego like our very own Chin.

Why? He wouldn't turn us into magicians! He's hasn't changed Portugal much anyway has he?

English newspapers - scum of the earth.
I once sat next to a reporter from the Daily Mail on a flight to South Africa, he was going to cover an event where Princess Anne was attending a Chidrens Fund raiser. After a few drinks he told me how they intended to provoke Anne to provide more interesting news than just "kids stuff".

Yes, and the gamble worked. Can you imagine Sven trying something as bold? No nor me.
