Fielden, according to some on here he is rubbish and overrated.....I have seen few Premiership Englishmen better. Terry and Co...fine, but Ledley King? He makes loads of mistakes in matches....but still we feel it is right to attack one of our few truly talented players.

Saying all that it is a non starter for now...not playing in the Prem and plays for an unglamorous team, same for Jagielka..... doubly whammy.

Neither player will make it, but there is no reason why J-Lo can't be a future international. It's whether it's with Wolves or not...

No chance with Wolves, not with Hoddle playing him on the left wing!!!

SOA, I think that Lescott was good, I think since his injury he has lost a yard of pace, which is understandable, he has lost to some extent his positioning in terms of reading the game and he has lost some of his confidence. It may be that a move away from Wolves would suit him from a personal developement pint of view.

I don't think for instance and this is personal point of view he is now as good as Dawson at Tottenham, where at one point he was streets ahead.

Couldn't agree more. So- in that respect, a 5 million pound transfer for us could be the best we could expect to get, as much as we never want to see him leave. Difficult one.

5 million, I hope so but I doubt it very much !! I reckon 3 million max !

I don't think hes good enough. A couple of years back I'd have put money on him to represent England, but now I'm not convinced he will even get his chance in the Premiership

If Lescott works hard in training can he regain that lost yard of pace???

Hard to tell hollo, but one thing he has always had is a phenomenal reading of the game....I still believe if he was surrounded by other quality defenders then the best of Lescott is still to be seen.

Hope he gets his chance to prove it and we get a chance to find out soon.

You should believe the gangsters storyline as it is keeps cropping up time and time again

There are loads of centre backs better than Lescott, he won't get anywhere near the squad.

if he has ambitions of playing for england he should move at the end of the season to a club who will improve him, dawson was good but he has improved immensely since moving. if you go mr lescott good luck and thanks, hope we get £3m min and sell on clauses

Agreed on Dawson. Lescotts reading of the game is excellent, but his distribution is awful. He will be gone for 2.5 - 3million.

When you have seen the likes of Billy Wright,Bill Slater,Ron Flowers,Frank Munro,John Macall etc.,you will realise how mediocre Lescott is,how weak is our defence since he arrived on the scene,I don't think it is any coincidence,!!!!!

Don't forget Clampy, Showell, Woodfield and even to some extent he it was late in his career and it was lower divisions and he played his best years for the Albion, Alistaire Robertson.

I think he'll do alright in the Premiership where he has the motivation to succeed alongside a more established defender and good luck to him. I think his reading, tackling and distribution are excellent but he's not an organiser or the best defender of crosses.

Lescott will be an outstanding player in the Premiership, but unfortunately not with us. He is just playing in a bad side for a manager that hasn't got a clue, hence the drop in form. He has been so consistently good during his career with us that it stands out a mile when his form tails off.

Uncle I totally agree. At one time he was a far better player than Dawson.... However Dawson is now a far better player.

I am not sure if it is his knees or not. He is slower, his positioning has not improved.

He is not as good as he was. He is still an excellent player tho

Bull$$$$$, i agree with most the comments here about lsoing a yard of pace etc, being overtaken by dawson, but saying he is the reason are defence has been poor over 5 years is absolute b*llocks. Are you saying we would have been stronger without him??

holloholloway

If he cannot regain that yard of pace we have to get rid of him, because we'll never be able to get 3 million again. Plus, he's probably on 12 grand a week and we are haemoraghing money with our playing staff's wages. We have to sell whilst other club's are kidded about how good lescott really is.

There's no denying (except on here, of course) that Lescott is class. Clubs are interested in him because of that, not beacuse they have $$$$e scouts (that's just us). He has been slower since his injury, and I agree we should sell him to a reasonable bidder, but he's still a first-rate defender.

YES without doubt

That's like saying that we would have been promoted if we'd had Bobby Robson as manager.

Impossible to prove or disprove. It's a non-argument.

YES without doubt

So Lescott has been a bad player for the club? We would have been better as a defence with the players underneath him? Stop talking out of your $$$$.
