According to the Sun this morning Wolves will play Villa on 29th July for Steve Bull's testimonial.
It also says Lee Hendrie will join us for £750,000 in the summer.

I thought we were going to be playing Celtic (part of the Camara loan deal)?

not a bad set of pre-season games then - why no Morecambe?

In at the deep end for the new manager

Why would we buy Hendrie when the emphasis is going to be on trimming the squad?
In at the deep end for the new managerNot if they sack Hoddle now. There's still enough games left for the new manager to start building the new team; Ince could take over from Carl and put out the cones for the pre-match warm up.

Nice idea MarkyB, but you don't seem to be able to see the bigger picture; The Steve Bull Testimonial game would be the ideal time for Uncle Rick to unveil our new manager to the fans - Here's BULLY!

You'd think they'd pick a better team for Bully FFS. We should play Liverpool they were his boyhood team.

You would think so wouldn't you? I think his original 'farewell' appearance was against Villa too wasn't it?
Mind you, just to see the great man on the Molineux pitch once again in old gold will be enough to entice me to buy a ticket.

I also thought they'd choose a team with a bit more prestige than Villa. Oh well.

It was in the Daily Star that he had actually signed for Villa at one time.
I remember because I saw the headline and brought the paper and was gutted when I read it. I still can't believe they printed it as FACT that he had signed the night before - even though it turned out to be wrong.

Yeah we had S. Hislop in goal.
1-1 final score I think.

The E&S announced the testimonial last week I think. Quoted Bully as saying he is training in the gym everyday for this game, and wants it to be treated as a proper game and not one of these stupid testimonials you see these days.

That was his testimonial but his final appearance was in a friendly against Villa.
Happy 41st BTW Bully!
20 mins of Bully back on the pitch. Well worth every penny.

Never mind the testimonial then - get him on the pitch on Saturday !!!
Wasn't that villa game Mike Stowells testimonial?

Can't remember the occasion, it was just a friendly but Bully made a fleeting 20-odd minute farwell appearance. We played in our new sky blue away kit rather than old gold too. Summer of 1999 I think shortly after Bully retired.
Never mind the testimonial then - get him on the pitch on Saturday !!!
He'd be no good as a full back/winger though. ;)

I'd love to see Bully back in the old Gold. That's the day after I get back from my travels in Europe this summer too, it'd be fantastic. I, too, would hope they'd get a bigger team than Villa, Liverpool would be good, or maybe a big european club.
Wasn't that villa game Mike Stowells testimonial?
Indeed.

Was there an electrical storm during the game or an I getting confused with another one? I can certainly remember hearing Hislop shouting at the defence from my seat in the John Ireland stand - impressive!!

I can't se us playing Celtic....I think that opportunity has passed. I don't think we're a big enough club for Celtic....I'm sure I've heard they're playing Newcastle pre-season. And besides that, their season starts on the same day as Bully's Anniversary game.
I reckon that the Villa game will be the only pre-season at home. And to be honest, even if we were playing Kiddy I'd be there just for the chance to see Bully in a Gold shirt again.

celtic are contractually obliged as part of the Camara loan deal aren't they?
Bridgo Wolf
29-03-2006, 09:32
I thought they were...but last season they made ssome excuse, and I don't see how they fit it into either their or our schedule this year.....surely the club aren't keeping things from us???????

Celtic are playing because of the miller deal....why camara is being mentioned is beyond me!

Because Celtic are playing because of the Camara deal. Miller is being mentioned because it's likely to be his Celtic debut.

If we're giving out testimonials for 10 years service then yes, he'll be due one in the pre-season of 07/08.
Edit: Holy crap Deutsch Wolf OBLITERATES the tables with a MASSIVE image.
