View Full Version : Predict the team for the first game next season......and manager!
Manager - Ian Holloway.

Asuming Lescott, Seol, Seyi are sold to bring in some income and lose some high wages and with Ince retiring. Don't really rate Holloway that much but will be cheap and it's not as if the position will be as appealing as before due to lack of money, i'd look forward to his comments post match though , Lol
Thought Holloway was expected to take over at Stoke any day now?

Don't know why anyone is predicting Gabor will play in the first game of next season. He's gonna be out for a loooong time..
I guess that this was meant to be a fairly light hearted thread, but to actually try and predict next season's team is too tough to do. Will we make the play-offs? Will Hoddle stay or go? If we fail with a couple of matches remaining, will Hoddle go then or at the end of the season?
Unless we have more absolute disasters in future games, the answers to the above won't be known until the end of the season or very close to it. How would a new manager judge which players to keep and which to let go? Assuming that we mess around with the decision of a new manager, will the out of contract players stick around until next pre-season?
Too much uncertainty.

Something along those lines would do me though if Hoddles in charge just add anderton somwhere , throw the names in the air and where they land play them there.
Oh and we'll still be in this $$$$ehawk of a league.

Good call. I'll go for the same, except Davies will replace Anderton; Ndah will be injured; Olinfinjana will be a season long loan somewhere. So I'll pick Clarke and Craddock as subs.
I don't think this is joke, I really think its right.

This is what my crystal ball tells me:
League: CCC (knocked out in first round of play-offs by Watford)
Manager: Hoddle
Squad: Trimmed
Out
Ince (ret'd)
Miller
Cameron
Oakes
Kennedy
Murray
Ganea
Lescott
Murray
Anderton
Ross
Seol
In
Alan Stubbs (or similar 'old head')
Robert Green (time to start again with gk ... should be biggest investment if/when Jo goes)
Huddlestone (loan)
Aliadiere (loan)
McLeod
Team:
Green, MacNamara, Stubbs, Craddock, Naylor
Aliadiere, Huddlestone, Davies, Rosa
McLeod, Cort
Subs
Postma, Clyde, Edwards, Olofinjana, Frankowski
Manager - McCarthy

Might be close. Ross and Rosa are only currently signed up until the end of the season though, with Rosa we have the option of another 2 years. McCarthy wouldn't play that formation, he'd have a flat back four and a flat four across mid-field.
For everyone that has Gyepes down, he is extremely unlikely to play at the start of next season. Unless you know the results of his scan and there has been a miracle, he has cruciate knee ligament damage and this usually results in our players being out for 12 months. In most cases it effectively signals the end of a player's Wolves career. Check out www.wolves.co.uk (http://www.wolves.co.uk) I find it a mine of information on all things Wolves.

What depresses me is the thought of selling J Lo to pay off Glenn's contract. Has Ince really got another season in him?

Oh yes!
Has Ince really got another season in him?
IMO no he hasn't but I thought the same this time last year. I think its more likely he'll start the season than we will find a suitable replacement.

Ince and Irwin were our best signings in recent years and the key to our successes (such as they were). I think there are players with the experience and toughness to do a similar job during team rebuilding next season ... which is why I suggested Stubbs. This time though, I think one of them has to be a keeper. Even with a lighter squad we will still have terrific ability and potential, but a missing ingredient is confidence. An experienced keeper makes a big difference in this department.
What happens with Murray?
Wasn't he key to our success?

I'd love to see Murray back to his commanding best, but the sad truth is that few players recover their best form after extensive lay-offs, especially when recovery is interrupted by false dawns. Doesn't sound as if his Tranmere loan has got off to a flying start.
Also, keepers who can't kick are a bit of a liability. It drives outfield players mad.
