Lots of things are being suggested about the new season ahead, where we probably will be in this division stil (hopefully not). People are saying we need to cut costs, bring youth through....But why not have one big spend to but the best we can get to get us up? which is kind of what we did before, in spending millions on Rae, Cameron, Blake, Miller, Irwin n Ince (wages)...
If we went out and brought all the best talent, such as Jerome from cardiff, Nicholls from Luton to name a couple.Mcleod, Huddlestone, ALi.. there is talent out there that will just be playing in the reserves. plus any prem players that would definately do a job and more. Why not spend big to add to a squad that should ensure promotion?
I know spending money doesnt always buy success, but if it works, surely it would be worth it?

Just a small point... where would the money come from to buy these players?

I do remember Derby buying up all the best British youngsters in the early 90s, and doing f#ck all. Their chairmen got pished off, sacked the manager, sold most of the youngsters, bought some ageing pros, and Derby went up immediately.

And the other flaw appears to be I know spending money doesnt always buy success, but if it works, surely it would be worth it?
Or to put it another way, I know doing a certain thing is unlikely to succeed, but if it works why not try it.
or, why not chuck what little money we have away on a long odds gamble.

It's always worked for us in the past after all.
Worked well for Watford and Forest when they gave those two young, hungry managers Vialli and Platt millions to spend on players. And one of them was an ex-England captain who showed lots of passion as a player so he was almost guaranteed to succeed in management.

Was that when they bought Lee Mills? Don't think you could describe him as best young talent! :D

This gets my vote for stupidest post of the year so far.

£3.5m for Jerome, £1m(?) for Nicholls, £800k fo McLeod, £2m for Huddlestone, £2-3m for Aliadiere. So getting on for over £10m for the lot, plus the £7m we are losing from the parachute money. Where the $$$$ are we going to get £17m from?:D
We should go down the cheap, proven Championship player route. We've spent big for over 10 years and we've failed.

Sir Jack will have a change of heart and flood the club with money after he appoints Sven as manager.

Rumour is that Svens' going to Chelsea to replace Mourinho - I reckon Jose will come to Wolves with Ambramovich and his millions ;)

More like a real test of his character and sanity.
