RyanWolf 11-03-2006, 21:57 Where's Deutsch Wolf now? SOA Wolf 11-03-2006, 22:22 Don't worry, he'll be back for Reading smileys/smiley2.gif First chance he gets Hoddle will bring him back...I said against Hull that as soon as he came on we went from fast passing, moving for the return AHEAD of the player to static....it has been plain enough to anyone who watches the game properly, no wonder it passes Hoddle by. 19th Holer 11-03-2006, 23:17 No Kennedy smileys/smiley16.gif Spa Wolf 12-03-2006, 03:15 How many of the games he started in before the last 4 did we win? RyanWolf 12-03-2006, 12:58 Last 4 games with Kennedy starting: Stoke (H): 0-0, Crewe (H): 1-1, Leicester (A): 0-1, Millwall (A): 0-0 That's a rather shoddy3 points from a possible 12 and no wins. Last 4 games with Kennedy on the bench or out of the 16: Cardiff (H): 2-0, QPR (A): 0-0, Hull (A): 3-2, Ipswich (H): 1-0 That's a much more impressive 10 points from a maximum 12 and unbeaten. No pithy retort on our upturn in fortunes with Kennedy's absence then at all,DW?Edited by: RyanWolf Essex Wolf 12-03-2006, 13:05 So the longer MK is out injured the better. Spa Wolf 12-03-2006, 13:31 I don't think that's right essex. The problem over the past 4 games when Kennedy's started, is either Anderton, Ince (or both) were in the middle alongside him. The way we play, I don't think the midfield will work as well with 2 or 3 of these older men (with little pace) as it will with one of MK, PI or DA (if we're desperate) and two energetic players alongside. If Kennedy played in midfield with Rosa and Davies or Ricketts, I think we will see pretty much the same performance as we did yesterday from the midfield. The last four games which he's started, the midfield picked by the manager has been the problem, not Kennedy. Essex Wolf 12-03-2006, 13:39 I was partly joking Spa Wolf but appreciate what you are saying. For me and irrespective of his age but Ince is a must just now and yesterday the midfield for the first time in a long while looked creative, competative and up for it. Anderton is past it and offers us powder puff effort and so your view re he alongside MK and Ince is probably right but it is also right that without MK playing results have been better. Hatch End Wolf 12-03-2006, 13:53 Kennedy's got the photos.....he'll be back as 1st choice as soon as he feels like it......and there's **** all we can do about it! SOA Wolf 12-03-2006, 14:42 Cannot agree Spa, notice we scored 6 goals in the 4 without him against 1 with...a truly shocking figure. I watched the way the game changed when Kennedy came on against Hull.....as with yesterday players were playing a sort of 5 a side style, pass and run into space, usually ahead of the man....and an attack ensued....Kennedy passes and then runs sideways or backwards...the players on the ball then has few options, he either has to try and run into a cul-de-sac or pass it back and then the opposition get players behind us....it is basic stuff....I'm sure Kennedy's stats look great...made 50 passes etc etc, but you need to analyse it. It shows he is lazy and unimaginative, or that he is following a Hoddle directive better than other players who may be playing the more natural game, either way he is a liability. If Kennedy comes back Hoddle deserves any failure he gets and if it does not work he should walk. johnybig32 12-03-2006, 14:45 Not that i will injury upon any player, but im free if anyone wants me to pro-long kennedys absence! I have been saying for a while that there is no pace and forward movement in the midfield, and without him there is much more positivitity in the midfield, which improves the team a great deal! they can get forward to support front players, and back to help defence! keeping pace in the midfield is a must! if kennedy comes back ,the only player who should be replaced is ince. but i dont want that to happen either! I.D. 12-03-2006, 14:46 SOA, not a single person agreed with you about Kennedy's effect on the Hull game, if you take another look at the video you will see that he puts the ball through for Ricketts to make the cross for Cort's winning goal. RyanWolf 12-03-2006, 15:00 Being involved in the build up that led toa goal doesn't compensate for the general sideways effect he has on the team in most matches he plays. johnybig32 12-03-2006, 15:04 SOA, not a single person agreed with you about Kennedy's effect on the Hull game, if you take another look at the video you will see that he puts the ball through for Ricketts to make the cross for Cort's winning goal. How stupid....kennedy makes the team be so flatand negative, and like ryan says, being involved in build up doesnt contribute to goal! I.D. 12-03-2006, 15:08 So being involved in the build up to a goal doesn't contribute to the goal? RyanWolf 12-03-2006, 15:09 Of course it does, you silly $$$$$! Stop trying to wind everyone up and accept the truth. I.D. 12-03-2006, 15:11 Of course it does, you silly $$$$$! Stop trying to wind everyone up and accept the truth. Is that to johnybig? He's the one that said that it doesn't. BTW what truth is that? 28th March 1965 12-03-2006, 15:11 Kennedy did change the game for the better against Hull and no not just for one ball to Ricketts , he wanted the ball and used it well left and right to either Ricketts and Miller , but one game doesn't mean a fat lot when he is probably the biggest downfall in midfield over this season and last he does hold onto the ball too long and play square balls to oftern , he slows the play up terribly and rarely looks to bomb forward...........yes he changed the game at Hull but it's only one game and judging on the games he has missed he is not missed and for the better... johnybig32 12-03-2006, 15:12 Of course it does, you silly $$$$$! Stop trying to wind everyone up and accept the truth. Is that to johnybig? He's the one that said that it doesn't. BTW what truth is that? no its to you fool... RyanWolf 12-03-2006, 15:16 Yes it was aimed at you, I.D.. A player who is involved in the build up to a goal does deserve credit I feel, not as much as the assister and the scorer, but he deserves some recognition. The truth is that Kennedy's general effect on the team isn't constructive. For the vice captain of WWFC, he is awfully dispensable as a player, as shown by the last four of our victories.Edited by: RyanWolf I.D. 12-03-2006, 15:18 28th, see my Captain Marvel thread. Kennedy has been playing in all of our highest scoring wins this season and he has been captain for all but one of them. 28th March 1965 12-03-2006, 15:23 28th, see my Captain Marvel thread. Kennedy has been playing in all of our highest scoring wins this season and he has been captain for all but one of them. Maybe so ID but when he's not been in the side and this is along with Anderton as well we have got supporters off there seats with good movement going forward and lovely direct speedy football (like yesterday) , Kennedy makes Wolves so boring to watch because he is scared with the ball at his feet at times and doesn't know the meaning of trying to spilt a midfield or defence with balls or run at a midfield... I.D. 12-03-2006, 15:28 28th, so you are quite happy that a manager that you can't stand plays Kennedy out of position. You are happy that he wants Kennedy to hold the ball up and keep possession, but when Kennedy does as he is told you want to blame him? 28th March 1965 12-03-2006, 15:40 28th, so you are quite happy that a manager that you can't stand plays Kennedy out of position. He did one thing right at Hull played ricketts for the winner. he did $$$$$$$ all else. The game slows down or stops when Kennedy gets the ball. He and Anderton should not be in the team. Davebull 12-03-2006, 17:09 It is well funny that any (would be) serious commentators on ateam game consisting of 22 players can realistically try and blame any one player for causing defeats when he plays. I hate the way the same people come out with the same cheap shots about the same boo boys ( I briefly counted 3 or4 threads about Kennedy since the win, there may be more ) as soon as they have some shoddily compiled statistics "proving" their ludicrous opinion. One man may make a team but one mancannot break a team ( unless they play in goal or initials areGH ) I wonder what would have happened yesterday if Kennedy played behind Rosa and Ricketts ? I would suggest having Miller and Aliadiere playing in left and right of" the spear " is far more influential on the recent increase in form rather than the coincidental ommission of MarkKennedy. Dont worry, only a few months left before he goes elsewhere and Ibet he will be more pleased to leaveour fickle brood than we are to see him go! I wonder who we will single out then ? You have to worry about someone who plays our former top goal scorer at wing back. RyanWolf 12-03-2006, 17:19 Saying one man can make a team but cannot break it is frankly mate, guff. Any team that has serious ambitions of promotion cannot carry a single passenger. If as you suggested, Kennedy had played in the holding role, I'd have predicted a player like Koumas to go to town on him. Sometimes one player playing a critical position on the field having an off day can entirely influence the outcome of the match. I.D. 12-03-2006, 17:42 RW, so you worry that Kennedy is in the team too much, but you don't worry that Miller starts a game at right wing back? If it had gone pear shaped, as has happened too frequently this season, then Hoddle would have been crucified for that. RyanWolf 12-03-2006, 17:57 Ultimately, Hoddle's incompetence tactically is the source for all of our problems on the pitch as far as I'm concerned. However, what I'd say to your last point is that even though Miller and Aliadiere are played out of position, they still play well and win over the majority of the crowd. Kennedy is played out of position and for me has been one of our worst players this season. HazelGroveWolf 12-03-2006, 22:36 Thought I'd better put it here as well.smileys/smiley9.gif First, I can't be doing with the abuse directed at ID. On topic, Mark Kennedy is not the player he was 3-4 years ago, most will accept that. It is of note that two managers have seen a role for him but have as yet to define that role. MK doesn't seem to understand his role at a particular point in time. A case in point would be the home match against Southampton. On several occasions I spotted MK no more than 2 yards from Tom Huddlestone effectively negating us a player. SOA will remember our conversation after the match. |
