What's your favourite FA Cup match ever been to watching Wolves?

Did anyone go to the final in 1960? Semi's in 1981?

Leeds away in the Quarter Final when Goodman scored was probably my favourite. Later that night in O'Neils in W'hampton, Hans Segers was dancing on a table with just his underpants on!smileys/smiley36.gif

Same for me. I was more convinced that we would lose that game than any other i've been to.

Been too soo many.... through the Seventies, Eighties, Nineties, and the Naughties -:)...
Middlesboro Away when we took thousands and beat them Ayrsome Park. Grimsby at home for the shear number of fishy people and the atmosphere.....
Newcastle, Cheltenham at home (Bully)... Just too many...

Biggest let down Spurs away at Highbury
Arsenal twice Villa Park

Have to agree with that...seen a few semis and they always seem to be let downs (well we always lost for a start)...someone described that Newcastle game saying it was like a basketball match...end to end...I think I only fully appreciated how good it was at the end.

Leeds away for me too. Travelled up from London with a car load of Leeds fans... return was the quietest journey I've ever had (apart from the 'Super super Don' singing from me!)smileys/smiley36.gifsmileys/smiley36.gif

I remember that Cheltenham game GW, i think we won 5-1, did Bully get 3 or 4? I was in the John Ireland.

Beating Sheffield Wednesday on penalties was a good one, but would probably agree with the Newcastle game as it was the most recent.

I was in the Leeds end when Goodman scored + my borther is a Leeds season ticket holder so that was a fun time!!!

I was also at Hillsbrough against totenham when Clive Thomas gave a2 very dodgy decisions (1 to each team to be fair).

Biggest let down was Arsenal at Villa Park.....bad team selection and completely spoiled by mid-day Kick off.

Also saw the home game against Chorley....hardly counted as a shockwhen it went to three games.

Being at wembley whenm we beat forest in League cup was great...thats when the league cup meant something and we were playing european champions and current holders of league cup...nobody gave us a chance (Gary Newbon!!!)....The league cup in those days was more prestigious than the FA Cup is today.

Good question and very difficult to answer as there have been many but have to say away game was the 1-0 win at Leeds and home games the wins over Newcastle and Sheff Wed after pens.

The best for me has gotta be the Leeds quarter final.

The worst was either the 3-0 thumping we got off Spurs in the semi-final replay at Highbury-Andy Gray was out injured and we were played off the park with Archibald and Crooks scoring wonder goals that they kept on playing on the tv months later smileys/smiley13.gifor us losing 6-0 at Rotherham in 85 with Nicky Clarke getting himself sent off-we'd beat them 2-1 up there in the league earlier in the season-Neil Edwards had scored both goals(John Richards type one-on-one finishes)-he broke his leg shortly after that game and was never the sam player afterwards.

The more i think about it the more i think that that Rotherham 6-0 loss was our lowest ebb-even worse than the Chorley defeat as we were in freefall in the old 3rd division at the time too as when we lost the following year to Chorley the turnaround had been started in the league first by Brian Little(i think it was him that signed Andy Mutch for 5k-what a signing that was-from Southport) and then Graham Turner.

The newcastle game. Just brilliant.

Worst. Palace replay. was it 4-1? in the end with armstrong causing havoc and sticking one up in the goal frame . Bloody awful that.

Remember it well PLL. The ball got stuck at the top and was in front of the SB, horrid game.

I went to both those Rotherham games. Quiz question for the spotters out there, who played for Wolves that day and went onto play in The World Cup Finals the year after ??

I think my favourite was the 5th round marathon against Villain 65. I was at all three matches: 1-1 at Villa (crowd of 52,000), replay at the Mol 0-0 aet (47,000) and 2nd replay at the Albion, which we won 3-1 on a pitch covered in snow (38,000). All humdingers, with Hughie McIlmoyle doing the damage in the 2nd replay. That was the year Man U put us out 5-3 in the 6th round (another great game), which has been discussed on another thread on here recently.

Didn't Sky recently re-show the Newcastle game as an advert for the cup? Remember returning to the pub and getting drunk watching Phil Taylor win some darts cup afterwards, as well as taunting the one Geordie we knew who was in there.

My first ever Wolves game was the 1979 FA Cup-Semi Final against Arsenal at Villa Park, although we lost it was agreat day for me. I remember the Holte End being split down the middle with police separating the fans and constant barrage of toilet rolls going back and forth.

I also loved the cup game away against Chesterfield sometime in 90s. We were 2-0 down and came back to win 3-2 with a Robbie Dennison special. Edited by: Wonder Boyo

I'd forgot about Rotherham I was there that day, We had played them just before I went to the same ground twice in quick succession. I think but I am getting old now

Wolves 3 - 2 Newcastle, one of the best games ive ever seen.

worst - Wolves 0 - 1 Cambridge Utd - I think Leadbitter scored for them, it was when they started their rise up the leagues.

I'm surprised no-one's mentioned Wimbledon away in 98 when we went on that great run. OK so the football was dire (did Fateleinan score for us?) but the pride of been at an away game where the whole ground was Wolves was one of the best moments I've ever expereinced as a Wolves fan.

Worst? Same year, Arse 1-0, what a travesty of apathy.

I think this result installedconfidence in the squad after a dire run of results andstarted our great run in the league which finished at Cardiff beating Sheff u.http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_1_218.gif (http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb001_ZNxmk873YYGB)

Yes it was Mansfield, but we beat Chesterfield in the League Cup once in a midweek fixture, wet night . We went behind, Kevin 'bloody' Davies! Can't remember the scorers, won 3-1. I sat in the seats to the left of the Wolves away following with some 'friends' under a hole in the roof.smileys/smiley7.gifIt looked like I had p!$*ed myself. smileys/smiley36.gif

I was never able to understand how the Waterloo Road stand was forced to close because of safety reasons yet that stand at Chesterfield remained open for years and was a far greater safety/fire hazard.smileys/smiley7.gif

I went to the 1960 final having only missed the 2-2 draw at Newcastle in that cup runbut it was the semi final win against Villla played at the Hawthorns which was my favourite. I was stood behind the goal where Norman Deeley popped in the winner.

Wolves lost out on the double that season by 1 point to Burnley
