View Full Version : Bully`s England Debut
Just been reading midland memories on the net and came across a report of Bullys first England goal against the scots. It was a fantastic moment to see our hero score for England. When he scored i jumped up and fell backwards onto a glass coffe table and got 15 stitches in my back smileys/smiley5.gif. Just wondered where everyone else was and what they did when he scored

I was watching in a student flat in Liverpool smileys/smiley11.gif
John Fashanu was in the starting line up and got injured....the commentatoor "hoped it wasnt serious"....I was screaming for him to be carried off and Bully to come on...Bully should have got a second but Gascoine shot instead of passing to our hero.
I went down to see his 1st game at wembley (finland???), 50% of the crowd were Wolves Fans.....but nobody passed to him.
I was in the Scotland end at Hampden, as all my in-laws are Scots, they got me a ticket. I kept my cool until Bully came on - when he scored I went chuffing crazy and promptly got chased out of the stadium! What a day, will live in my memory forever!

My favorite football moment of all time.
Sends a shiver down my spine even now.....!
I wasn't a Wolves fan at the time but I remember it well - a great finish from (probably) the last true 'English' centre-forward to play for England - apart from Shearer perhaps, oh and Wright.
OK that's nuts, but what a moment!

Please dont compare Bully and Shearer to Ian Wright.....how many goals did he score for England? Bully had a great strike rate for England seeing as most of his appearances were as sub...Taylor replaced him with Wright who then had a shocking record. Bull and Shearer are legends. Wright is a nastyb!$*!$*dwho tried to maim Peter SmichaelEdited by: Reddish Wolf

It's funny how you can remember where you always were when major events
take place.......Moon landing, JFK being shot, Bully scoring a goal.
I was at me nans, Wentworth road, Bushbury to be precise. She was
mowing the front lawn and shrugged her shoulders when I screamed he'd
scored.

I could have written that! smileys/smiley36.gifMy family live in Maryhill and a little place outside Dunfermline (Celtic, Irish, Ireland and they were totally disinterested! smileys/smiley2.gif) but it was difficult keeping a straight face walking away from the stadium towards my aunty's place.
I am sure that I was resented for being born in England, sod 'em, sod'em all. smileys/smiley36.gif
I was sat in a mate's flat in Telford. Unfortunately one of them
was a big leeds fan who slagged bully off at the start and hated
wolves. Ha ha, how revenge was sweet when the 'tipton skinhead'
banged in the goal.
btw, some great mullets were on show that day: Gazza and waddle. ooof.
