I went to this - it was played over a weekend in 1988 (just before SVT against Burnley).

We lost to Everton on pens after Robbie Dennison scored a goal against Nev Southall - it was a 40 yarder, great goal.http://www.molineuxmix.co.uk/forum/smileys/smiley17.gif

There was about 3000 Wolves fans there. We stood next to a section of about 10 Wimbledon fans.http://www.molineuxmix.co.uk/forum/smileys/smiley36.gif

Anyone remember who won it though?http://www.molineuxmix.co.uk/forum/smileys/smiley5.gif

No.....Bala Town had a rather speedy winger they couldn't cope with and it cost them the game.

I'm not sure, but I think Forest may have won it.

I remember that Tranmere, who had been perennial strugglers of Div 4, had a cracking tournament and we were all saying that they were def going to go up and all the Wimbledon fans (yes about 20 of them) jumped into our section and started supporting us after they got knocked out.

I remember the tournament was slagged off by the media, but for those that were there it was a cracking day, mixing with fans of different clubs and no trouble. I'd love them to do it again.

ThereWAS trouble mate, Leeds wereup for it, had a mob roaming around and tried to infiltrate the Wolves "segment" during our game with Everton. Newcastle were no angelson Wembley Way either.

It was a celebration of 100 years of The Football League if I remember, so you'll be waiting a while if you'd love them to do it again.

Qualification for this depended on each teams performnace over a set number of games (not from start of season) so it was complicated to undertsand who was qualifying...

So who did we play when we clinched qualification???
