Quite an interesting thread from a Torquay forum about Charlton's ground. Bit random I know, but a good read all the same.
Always liked the Valley, and that East Terrace really was immense.

Always been a favourite away ground, might be something to do with witnessing first hand, a certain SEB wonder goal.

Karl Henry's lung busting run to get the winner was almost as good

You know Jim, I`ve still got that game recorded when your mate, big Chris was playing for Charlton.
Every time I watch it I never think we`ll have time to score before the whistle blows. Lovely cross from the left for Henry to just meet perfectly. Can`t think of the name of the winger Kevin someone??

That's because he wasn't a winger. Kevin Kyle & that was possibly the only decent thing he did in all the games he played for us

I remember that day so well.I had a fiver on a 2v2 draw at 13/2.I thought i was in the money but was so chuffed to see Karl Henry puting the winner away.
Excellent read that.
That was a regular away game for me as one of my sisters used to live just up the road from there.

I think i read somewhere thay the "Old" Valley was the only ground in England never to be filled to capacity.
I also remember being at the Valley in the early eighties thinking, Billy Kellock better than Pele.

The Who played a couple of gigs there in the 70s - I think one of them set a record for the loudest concern recorded.

The Antigallican next to the station has to be one of the best away pubs in the country as well.
