In my mind playing Foley RM is the same as playing Ward LM. Totally useless, gives the team were playing a psychological head start before a ball is kicked.

Spot on, if QPR have done their homework they'll take Jarvis out of the match through marking and we'll be toothless, Fletcher will be very cold today!
We could be doing something this game that we never have done since being in the prem, attacking through the middle. ?

It's a decent team. I'd sooner have Kightly than Edwards, and Stearman doesn't fill me with confidence.
Really don't understand the call for hammill. He's been poor every single game he's played for us, with short flashes of brilliance being cushioned by a lack of footballing intelligence that surpasses the ineptitude of Theo Walcott.
I have more confidence in Mick to select a team than I do the posters on Molineux Mix, so I'm content. It's far too early to judge anyway.
Hurrah - we've just gone up to 18th !!
I'm sure Mick was in the papers the other day promising Kights a run in the first team.

The only reason I can think fo related to Berra is that Bassong is also left sided. Might not have worked together.
COuld be a back 3

Disappointed to see Stearman at RB, weakens our defence just when we've added to it with Bassong - bizarre?!
I can only echo others, if Jarvis is shut out we will have no attacking outlet.
Let's hope QPR have an off day and we pull 3 points out our collective backsides.
Berra is up there with big george for distribution, he give the opposition so much possession.
Chiswick_Wolf
04-02-2012, 13:28
Kightly is injured. As someone pointed out - 9 out of 11 are as expected. Kightly is injured so someone had to come in for him and if you want Bassong to play (which I assume people do?!) then one of Berra or Johnson had to be dropped and arguments for and against could be made for either.
These post-selection hissy fits are embarrassing.

If you think Berra's distribution is bad, what about Johnson?
Even though there is a fair reason for leaving Kightly out, I am still furious with that team. Stearman should be nowhere near it, and Johnson should be dropped.

Arsenal 6-1 up and we've moved up a place. The future's bright...
If you think Berra's distribution is bad, what about Johnson?
Johnson most times try's and plays it out of defence, as soon as Berra gets the ball he keeps his eyes on the ball and lumps it 15 yards to the opposition.
I won't be at all surprised to see us play it a lot better from the back today.

At least they've not picked an attacking line-up!:eek::eek::eek::eek:
stearman and johnson in defence doesnt fill me with confidence. its another unbalanced team and id expect qpr to be able to attack without us having the attacking ability to hurt them. living on a prayer option today and mick is looking to nick it by getting a single goal. it will be desperate again if we concede early.
If you think Berra's distribution is bad, what about Johnson?
At least Johnson can head the ball unlike 50 pence head. I've never seen a defender tee up an opposition so much from weak heading as the french man.

04-02-2012, 13:32
Berras distribution looks terrbile because 9/10 he is the one who it is left with after everyone else is closed down.
With Kights being injured, the obvious would be too replace Kights with Hammill. I'll hold my judgement for now.

04-02-2012, 13:33
Hammill should be given a game. We need more attacking threat. If Jarvis is marked out of the game what have we got?
I think Mick is reverting to the blue print from the first season when we needed to become more solid. He went 451 - Doyle up top - and Foley came in on the right. Definitely made us tighter and harder to break down - though I agree didn't have much pace or was particularly pleasing on the eye at times!

Another baffling team selection. Thanks Mick!
Our weaknesses against Liverpool were defending the wings leaving Foley and Ward exposed. So this is a much better set up. Let's see if it works though, with a spine of bassong, frimpong, o'hara and fletcher we should be a lot stronger going in the middle and more solid on the wings.

Foley must be in defensive midfield - otherwise Hunt would just replace Kightly.
Therefore Edwards is on the right wing, this jumping through fire to accomodate Edwards is baffling. Edwards has never pulled up any trees there and even Hunt would have been a better option

I am not having a go here but I agree our weakness may have been defending the wings against liverpool . But we lacked creativity in that match to something with taking Kightly out and putting Foley in Midfield is not going to help us create chances. Our only hope is off a set piece.

Keep playing Johnson and relegation is a certainty. This is the signing that will ruin Wolves. It's going to cost Mick his job, and then we are really in the $$$$ because Moxey wouldn't have a clue on who should replace him. For $$$$ sake drop him and start to press up the pitch snapping at players ankles, not sitting back letting the opposition have space and time to pick holes in a vulnerable defensive line.

From BBC
Bobby Zamora takes precisely 16 minutes to open his QPR account. It's a well-worked goal too, starting with Adel Taarabt's flick out on the left. He feeds Djibril Cisse, who plays in Shaun Wright-Phillips inside the box. He tees up Zamora, who buries his shot past the helpless Wayne Hennessey. The Wolves defence could do nothing to stop it.
11 points in 21 games after today, goodbye Mick.
