Joe Hart (http://www.expressandstar.com/articles/sport/wolves/article_85784.php)

Mentions towards the end of this article GH being at the Shrewsbury game.

Why on earth is Hoddle watching another GK, haven't we got enough already? Even if a couple left Wolves would still have more than enough.

Is that the right link EW.....on the point you make, maybe he is going to play him up front....a few have done that in recent years...I'm sure there was one last season and he scored in two successive matches.

Is a good keeper and would be a decent signing in my opinion with Murray looking likely to never be a consistent presence for Wolves. I think Hart's rated higher than both Hennesey and Ikeme!

It's the only link SOA mentioning GH looking at another GK.

You may well be right BS but yet another GK is not a priority just now as I see things.

Hoddle was at Shrewsbury's clash with Mansfield at Gay Meadow last night, with highly rated Shrews keeper Joe Hart one player who could have come under his gaze.

Amazing stuff. Now wasn't it revealed on here that Glenn was at the Shrewsbury game and then someone posted that the only player they can think he was watching was the young keeper.

Lets not read between lines eh? Basically the Star, as ever have no idea why he was there and resort to either a) checking Mol Mix smileys/smiley36.gifor b) making an "educated guess" (i.e. Hart is the only player they've heard of...)

For the record I think he was looking at the fairly talented David Edwards, a right sided attacking midfielder with good pace and fair ability on the ball... Or possibly Ben Herd, who has been in superb form for the Shrews this season - only thing is hes a RB and we've already got 27 of these... or something.

Neither though IMO are good enough for this level of football, yet...

Yes if he is a good keeper bring him in. Time to look towards the future with the best we can get. Time to take chances and bring on the young players now that we are probably safe from relegation.

Hart is off to Man City by all accounts, but wherever he goes, Gary Peters has told clubs min fee will be "silly money" i.e. £1 mill + bonuses and Hart stays till at least the end of the season at Shrewsbury to continue his education...

We aint got that kind of money to sign an unproven keeper, nor can we compete with the attractions of Chelsea, Arsenal, Man City or Spurs (all of whom have shown at least a passing interest)

Shrewsbury have a number of promising youngsters, he could be looking at any one of them. I applaud the fact he is scouring the lower leagues for fresh blood.

i thought hoddle was looking at jamie tolley and sedgemore. both
midfield players who are meant to be up-and-coming. never seen them
play even though i live 15 miles from shrewsbury but my neighbours are
shrewsbury fans so i can easily ask them anytime

Why Glenn is looking at keepers ......

With GHs team rarely scoring more than one goal he
has realised if he can get a keeper in that will keep a
clean sheet every match..we should get on to a
winning run....Genius

If Joe Hart is better than what we have got what is the problem?

As previously mentioned Shrewsbury have a team of youngsters so it could have been any of them that Hoddle was looking at.

Poor Glenn he gets castigated for not looking at lower league players and then when he does he is again criticised.

Perhaps if our previous managers had not 'ignored' the likes of Shrewbury we may not have missed out on the likes of - Nigel Pearson, John McGinlay, David Moyes, Steve Ogricovic, Ian Atkins...

Having said all that the only players I can remember us signing from Shrewsbury were Tim Steele andthe goalie in the 60's who let 6 or 7 in on his debut for us,(they were both s!$*e).

Friar.......Alan ****ing Boswell, the worst keeper we ever signed. Trained in pit boots "so he felt lighter when he put his boots on for a game"! Never went in goal prior to kick-off, he used to stand on the touch-line and one of the players would kick the ball to him. Famously charged out of goal to punchaball clear and under no pressure and missed it completely! I was stood inthe North Bank, behind the goal and couldn't believe it as it sailed into the net. Thank Hod he was got rid of soon after.

I go to watch Shrewsbury fairly often, and I'm not sure what all this 'team of upcoming youngsters' is all about. Joe Hart is a decent keeper, although imo not as good as Matt Murray during the promotion season, plus he's been having a few 'growing pains' so who knows what will happen there. I certainly wouldn't mind him coming here though if Murray is never going to get fit again.

As for the others, Jamie Tolley is probably the pick of them, but is never Championship standard in a million years, far too inconsistant, and very much a younger Neil Emblen. Dave Edwards gets quite a few decent reviews, but to be honest he's never really impressed me all that much, he might make it at League One, but again, never at this level. Sedgemore left in the summer, and played for Burton last night! Ben Herd isn't bad, but doesn't get forward very often, and with the lack of protection we give full backs, then I wouldn't really fancy having him in our team.

Can I just say the flipside of the argument, if it was Hart that Hoddle was looking at:

A few years down the line, Hart is one of the most highly rated keepers in the country, and a national call-up beckons.

Hoddle COULD have signed him for virtually nothing back when he was at Shrewsbury, but we really didn't need a new keeper back then did we?

managers look at players all the time, surely he has just been informed of a decent youngster that he needs to take a look at and has gone, stuart pearce watched us several times earlier on in the season and was spotted at other games too, FFS get off hoddles back.
