it shows the situation in football at the moment that even at old trafford there are empty seats scattered around, and this despite the united attendance being down by 7,000 because of burtons huge following.

considering united cant realistically win the league then you would have thought the fa cup would have more appeal to them

Presumably tickets were full price though, if you were a Man Utd fan would you really pay full price to seeBurton when you watch Prem football every week?

The "situation" as you put is that people cannot or do not want to
afford to pay full whack for tickets on top of their already over
priced season tickets. I was suprsied the crowd was as high as it
was.

To be fair they were playing a non-league side, had a near reserve team out and it was live on the BBC. I was surprised the attendance was so high.

I bet BBC viewing figures really dropped off after 7 minutes. Serves the silly billys right for ignoring Tamworth just so they could show their bum love Man Utd once more.

ps - wasn't the pitch total s!$*e?

How much have Burton made from the tie?

I heard Nigel Clough say last night it was about £800,000

Thing is there was once a day when most Man Utd "fans" had not been to Old Trafford because they stood no chance of getting tickets, even for ties like this. You would have expected the seats to have been taken by the "glory hunters" rather than the hardcore fans.

True.

I remember when most Man Utd fans round here had only seen Utd play at Villa Park.

Have to say thought the BBC commentator was atrocious, constantly fawning over Man Utd, seeming to forgetthey were playing a load of part-timers.

And when Giggs, Ferdinand and Neville came on, you would have thought it was the 2nd coming. Ferdinand and Neville are real attacking threats.

Bring em on.

the point i was trying to make was that there was a time when united would sell out every single game. the asian fans coming over on coaches and the like.

it shows how things are slumping off for this to be happening, something that would have been unthinkable only about 3 years ago

They've significantly increased the capacity over time from 45000 to 67500 soon to reach 75000. Therefore games against smaller sides you can get tickets for. My mate was a member of Telford Reds and I always got offered tickets for games against Wimbledon/QPR/Soton etc. Never went cause i dont like them.

good point stewarton, but i think the fact that chelsea also dont sell out for some games shows that fans are finally saying enough is enough
