I know this gets discussed a lot but I would just like to have my two
pence worth. I think next year sees the change of our home strip
again. I for one am old school and I don't know if Wolves have
forgotten that our colours are "OLD GOLD" and black. Therefor I would
like to see our next strip represent this and NOT the "orange/yellow"
duster coulours we have had in the past. Your vote...

That top from a few years ago was awful, it was almost brown. I prefer the current colour.

Old gold and NOT Doritos Orange!

That was truly vile!smileys/smiley11.gif

SOS, I remember that "brown" strip from a few years ago.I thought at the time that the club had got it wrong, to my mind it wasn't "old gold". The real colour can be found on old programmes from the 50's.

I also want to go back to Old Gold socks!!

And what colour socks do you want, black or gold?

Black or white away kit?

The_Blade

A decent kit manufacturer would be nice. Then a decent kit. The kits over
the last few years have been awful.

Gold shorts to go with the shirt always looks better than black shorts IMO.

Proper Old Gold please.

Can we get this Poll sent to Jezza?

What dictates whether an umbro, adidas etc produces your kit? Is it a case of they wouldn't want to look at Wolves compared to the more 'marketable' clubs? Or does dealing with a less established kit provider mean you have more negotiation power when it comes to cut of profit etc.I would love to see a Wolves kit produced by a Nike,Umbro etc.

Let's go the whole hog and get the gold and black striped shirt back!
Hang on, the original shirts were red and white stripes, we were
gentlemen and changed due to the clash with Sheff Utd.

Why can we not get a 'proper' old gold, the shiny gold shirts that some foreign teams and a few have had numbers in over here....material technology has moved on from the 50s, so we could get a truly old gold shirt for the first time in our history....it would really stand out and be truly 'shiny' gold.

It's nice to see the forum for the most part in in agreement. Wolves, if your watching this space...old gold it is!

I would at lest like the new kit to be an original and not just kit 3 from page 4 of the Spall catalogue !!

Home strip: Old gold (shiny, like in the game vs Honved in 50's)

Away Strip: Camoflage.

Nike produce kits for Walsall, Grimsby and Southend so I don't think it's got anything to do with whether you're marketable.

I think you've answered your own question there. If moxey can get a kit in
for a fiver and sell it for £40 then he will, and has. It's not just the kit that
needs addressing, it's every bit of cheap tat that's sold in the clubshop that
needs looking at.

How many people on MM remember the original old gold? When did we stop using it?

Hatch End Wolf
09-01-2006, 10:06
The old gold disappeared at the end of the 50's. Certainly by the 1960 Cup Final Wolves were playing in a lighter gold strip and by the mid 60's in bright all-gold.

It's hard to believe that the club don't have samplesof all their old strips or club colours.

fenella

So is everyone voting 'yes' just really, really old cos I have no idea what our old gold strip looks like - you could show me a bright pink top and tell me it was old gold and I couldn't argue with you?

RyanWolf

I loved the kits from the 98/99 season- gold shirt, black shorts, gold socks. Away kit- White shirt, teal shorts and white socks.

Lupo Italiano

Real old gold colour, black shorts, black socks. Black away kit. In fact to allow for all black away kit I wouldn't mind an all old gold home kit.

The shiny real gold some have mentioned sounds interesting too!

Gold name and numbering on the black away kit rather than white.

Top brand would be good. Adidas, Umbro or Puma for me. Used to like Nike but so many teams wearing Nike 'identikits' have ruined their appeal IMO.

I've voted yes, cause deep down I'm a traditionalist, however, I'm not sure what an old gold strip looks like, I've seen the shirts we played in for the floodlit games against Honved etc. If they're the ones then definitely, otherwise, I've only seen black and white pictures of the 50's strips, so how could I tell?

Does anyone have any pictures? Or even a sample of the old gold colour itself?

Zigzag Wanderer

The shirts worn for the 50s floodlit games look very dodgy indeed. They were a satiny silk specially to show up in the lighting conditions (particularly for TV I think) & weren't worn in normal league/cup games.

Having tried this back as a link, it doesn't seem to work & just diverts to somewhere else, but if you just type in the search yourself the page in question has a picture & descriptionof old gold.Edited by: Zigzag Wanderer

That's because there's two 'http://' in that link. They always redirect to microsoft when that happens.

That looks more mustard yellow to me. If we played in a strip that colour I think I'd vomit.

I'd prefer a slightly darker gold strip, but the last attempt was too brown and not very nice.

does reverting back to the old gold shrts qualify as a new signing?

No way, that's curry coloured!

I like the colour of the retro tops in the club shop but that brown "old gold" Goodyear top was horrible. I would sooner have the more vibrant "orange" colour than that.

Bring back the Old Gold, I don't want my team looking like Cambridge United, Hull, Boston etc. However I do like the colour we used in the 60's and 70's. Anything but the sheeeite we have now.

Bill McCai
10-01-2006, 10:27
The current colour is 'Scromit Orange' according to a Dixons paint chart I saw yesterday. The darker Goodyear one was too dark but it was a miles better strip than the Ipswich/Sheffield United lite rank we wear now.
