Seeing Graham Roberts managing Clyde to a cup shock over Celtic today reminded me of one of the strangest pitch invasions I've seen down the Mol.

It was a Wolves-Alb**n game about 15 years ago. Roberts was coming to the end ofhis career and playing (like a donkey)for them.

One hardy Wolves fan ran on from the John Ireland/Steve Bull stand (a good effort in itself then),straight over to Roberts standing at centre half. He was carrying a large carrot that looked like it had just been dug out of the ground and handed it to a bemused GR who took it, looked at it and threw it on the floor.

The fan then ran over to Bobby Gould in the Alb**n dugout and put his arm round him while waving to the southbank, before being carted out to chants of "we're proud of you.."

You describe that like nobody else was there.

Also, adding 'like a donkey' puts you in the David Brent class of comedians who feel the need to explain a joke as it's going along.

The guy was sitting infront of me in the John Ireland Lower and I can remember him holding the carrot throughout the game.

Thought it was a bit wierd, but as a young whippersnapper just presumed it was a matchday ritual.
