View Full Version : the dr cool verdict....
well here goes !
the display was adequate no more no less. we started brightly and
finished well....the bit in the middle apart from the goals was turgid.
however the result was right we were by far the better team...... (wednesday were very poor ).
the plusses were...
postma,a couple of great saves..
incey...made an immediate organisational impact....
miller, looked fresh and lively when he came on...
the downsides being poor old george ( bad tackle )...and nayls.
kennedy i think has had a decent season but in the last 2 games has been conspicuous by his absence.
team for saturday may be
postma
edwards
craddock
lescott
kennedy
seol
ince
cameron
huddlestone
miller
clarke....
subs
oakes
vio
ross
anderton
ricketts
we needed 3 points tonight, how many times have we played very well and drawn /lost the game ?
i suppose the doom mongers resident on here will be out in
force...but we are back in the top 6....and well positioned for the run
in .
i keep going on about it i know but remember the hammers !!!

Of course we need to show a similar improvement in the second half of the season!

Top thread and I must add my tuppence worth.
At the start of the season, all 24 teams were chasing 6 spots. Now it looks like the top two have all but sealed their places, leaving only 4 spots to play for. However, if we exclude the bottom 7 teams for being more than 3 wins off a play-off spot, we now have 15 teams chasing 4 spots.
In other words, we're in a better position now (26.6% chance) than at the start of the season (25% chance). Plus our last home game saw an improvement in terms of attendance compared to the first game of the season. It just gets better yet this board chooses to focus on trivial things like being 18 points out of automatic spot or the apparent failed gamble taken on Kenny Miller or the clever tactics of Glenn.......I could go on but won't.
We are in a considerably better position than at the start of the season and Moxey has done a wonderful job with the Iverssen, I mean Luzhny, I mean Okoronkwo, I mean Silas, nope....Camara deal. Bonuses all round I say smileys/smiley17.gif

Some good points BR and the transfer dealings will go a long way I believe to deciding our fate.
Another couple of decent signings besides Gyepes and Rosa could see Wolves have a very fruitfull run in.No signings or poor ones will see us struggle IMHO to hold onto 6th place.

Do you mean Palace DR? The Hammers were in 7th in 2003 and 6th in 2004 at the end of the calendar year - claiming playoff spots both times - losing to Palace who had that fantastic run in May 2004 but beating Preston last season?

...erm...hate to point out the slight flaw in your optimistic mathematics but at the start of the season there were 24 teams chasing 3 promotion spots, so basing it on your figures there are now 15 teams chasing one.....from 8 to 1 now 15 to one, our chances have nearly halved.

SOA - couldn't believe my comments were taken seriously - nearly fell off my seat when I got the Essex reply, although nothing really surprises me on since DJ is the anti-christ and it had nothing to do with his boss. Thought the sticky out tongue at the end would at least provide a hint. I'm more of an SOA than SOA!

Lets just do enough & slack our way into 6th spot, then raise our game for the play-offs, while mugs like Leeds waste time & energy in a futile attempt at catching Reading & Blades. They'll only finish 3rd or 4th & will be so down in the time-honoured end of season fashion that they'll be there for the taking at the death Thisreally is the only optimistic spin we can put on our current position.

My apologies, did misunderstand and I hope you realise I was merely being pedantic.....as usual!!!smileys/smiley2.gif
Now that Stubbs has gone (well, except for last night!!) maybe I should set up an SOA supporters group.....only joking.
