WOW (http://www.wolves.premiumtv.co.uk/page/News/NewsDetail/0,,10307~754002,00.html)

£16 behind the goals, about right I suppose, would still be surprised
if we get over 15,000. Out of interest, thats £2 down on last years
game against Millwall, so fair play to the board/ticket office. Still
cant sum up much enthusiasm about it mind smileys/smiley5.gif

Desperation is setting in...dropping the prices because they know apathy has already taken hold....prediction 10,500.

£16?

No thanks. I'll give it a miss and put it towards an away game.

The Bear
12-12-2005, 20:29
It should be adults £10 and kids £5 throughout the ground if they want
to get anywhere near filling it, considering we play Plymouth at home
twice in the space of a week.

wolfan
12-12-2005, 20:36
Should also note about these prices that a non-season ticket holder who
can't make a game on new years eve would have to end up paying full
price for the game smileys/smiley11.gif

I might go to the replay, because my daughter is down there and it means I can see her and Wolves.

I will be there for the first match too, but with only 12,000 at Millwall and with more apathy this year then 10,000 looks about it.

The FA cup is still a great competition whoever you play-win 4 games and your in the semi-final at Wembley/Cardiff-Wolves have come pretty close a few times over the last 15 years or so-and seeing as we are pretty hard to beat it may be our best chance of getting a bit of excitement in an otherwise very dull season.

I bet there will be a better atmosphere at the cup game againt Plymouth than at the league game a week before even with 10,000 less fans in the ground. That might be to do with the fact there seems to be so much apathy amongst regular Wolves fans-and i'm not having a dig at anyone here-it's just that i think most season ticket holders have ended up being ground down by what they've had to watch not only this season but the last few years. Also its that anticipation factor that makes the cup so good-win that game and who could be lying in wait in the 4th round.

It might be a good idea for the club to ask non-season ticket holders who go to the cup game against Plymouth to keep hold of their ticket stubs to give them some kind of priority in later rounds if we get through-it might even get a few more to go.

I'm not suggesting replacing existing priority/loyalty schemes-but it might be a reward for someone who's turned up in an early round of a still fantastic competition against an unfashionable team-how gutted would you be if you couldnt get a ticket for the semi-final or final if we got there after going to the earlier rounds.

Maybe they should make it that seat is now that person's seat for the rest of the competition(at home-obviously)if a season ticket holder can't be rsed to go smileys/smiley2.gif

I don't know why so many are moaning about the prices anyway-i can of sorts understand the apathy for season ticket holders by the way-but the club has made a reduction to try and tempt people. To those on here that say they won't have any money-i'm sure you'd of found the full price if we'd been playing a premiership club-and there i was thinking that Wolves fans turned up to see Wolves play rather than the other team smileys/smiley5.gif

My point is that everyone on here has such a downer on this game-i can understand why as it's Plymouth who we'll have just played the week before-but it still is the FA cup after all-maybe its just me-but i still dream of Wolves in the FA cup final and maybe even in europe-and the FA cup will probably be our best chance of seeing Wolves play in europe for the foreseeable future-and if that means going to watch us play Plymouth in the 3rd round then thats fair enough and i'll be there regardless.

As i said earlier i can sort of understand why people don't want to go-everything you say on reasons not to go apart from the overpriced comment i agree with but the 2 reasons for going will always swing it for me as well as i'd feel a hypocrite if i didn't bother to go versus Plymouth then went if we played someone like Newcastle the following round.

Moxey and co will always hide behind their mathematical statistics and will have an elequant speech already penned to explain why the prices have to be £16 - and fairly convincing it will, no doubt be.

So why not incentivise us to go in other ways. Maybe 3 points to go onto the loyalty system instead of one - and make a song and dance about how this would boost your prospects of tickets for possible big games at the end of the season. Or how about throwing in a voucher for the club shop or retaurant.

When I first saw this thread, I thought 'go on Jez, make it a tenner'. £16 is too much money, though hardly surprising. Football clubs are out of touch with what value for money really is, and the funniest thing of all is that Moxey probably thinks £16 is a great deal, and quite the reward. Less than 15,000 will turn up.

The prices for this game are disgraceful if you ask me. Why would a non -season ticket holder pay £19 to watch us at home to a club we only played the week before???smileys/smiley5.gif

As a season ticket holder, i couldn't believe £9 off a normal ticket was the only discount Moxey decided to give us, what sort of iodiots does he take us for??

Crowd of 8000 maximum imo. Surely lowering the prices to a tenner for season ticket holders and then having an expected crowd of doublw that would have made more sense financially??

So that's a 33% discount. I can't see many other clubs being that generous. We can't do whatever we want with ticket prices in the cup, we have to consult Plymouth as they share the gate receipts. Maybe they had something to do with the decision?

As for your maths....

8000 x 19 = 152000

16000 x 10 = 160000

So we'd gain £8k if your very pessimistic forecast of 8000 was proven to be correct. We got 9500 against Chester in the League Cup.

Prices for Chester were not £16 and £19 though DW and early season optimism was still apparent.

Now that the realism that Moxey and Hoddle have taken us for a ride, yet again this season, has set in, cannot see a crowd above 8-10000.

I can see the maths doesn't benefit the club grately and Plymouth of course will have a major say in the prices.

However, as i'm sure you will agree DW, the message that Moxey could have sent out (Plymouth allowing) if he had made the prices around the tenner mark would have been healthy for him and the clubs image at a time where i think the fans are becoming very, very frustrated by the club.
