Since we signed the Portuguese international Silas I think you will agree he has been nothing short of phenomenal. Overlooked for the ( almost the )whole of the Premiership season, then loaned back to the Portuguese league for 2004/5 AND then again for 2005/6 Silas has been one of the greatest signings in the history of Wolverhampton Wanderers. Feel free to discuss the mystery of Silas here.

My greatest Silas moment was a step-over in the 58th minute of the friendly match versus Boavista in the build up to our Premiership assault.smileys/smiley32.gif
*Mods, I think you better make this a sticky as I get the feeling its going to be a seminal thread. Also no DaVinci code albino monk jokes geeks.
His best moment for me was inspiring a poster enough to register as "Silas is god" on the old MM.

his first sublime touches at Blackburn where I thought oo- he's a bit good.
he then went into hiding as it began to rain goals by the Derwent and the only bright point was the wolf-whistles for the rat over his boots
very sad

Its obvious why he played well against Boavista - as a Portugeezer he's always going to play well against any Spanish team.

My magic moment was the look on his face as he trudged back to the half way line after yet another goal flew in at Ewood Park. " Mourinho could've had me instead of Deco". Or maybe it was "I wish i had hair like boy wonder/princess Ronaldo".

on topic - The Zidane turn against West Ham in the FA Cup, which prompted DJ to sub him at HT, after he was our best player.
There's a lad who sits in the South Bank and goes to a few away games
who looks like Silas, he is a bit larger though. He used to sing (to
the tune of "Go West" by the Pet Shop Boys), "Silas, has put on some
weight". It made me laugh the first time that I heard him do it anyway.
When in Portugal i tried to get a portugal top with Silas on the back with his
squa number on, the shop didn't know what it was so i didn't get it, lucky
eh?

I remember a Cruyff like turn and a flick away at Man Utd in the second half.....I still believe if he had been given the correct position, as a playmaker, to play then he would have been an effective player for us.

His cameo against Villa away was sublime. One of the great mysteries - a player with obvious talent loaned out for 2-seasons.
If you have got Silas on a shirt, it could be worse, you could be like the fella that sits in the north bank with 'Olofinjana 4' on his back, I cringe everytime I see him.

I thought Silas would be a player Hoddle would try and get the best out of ( skilful midfielder with eye for a through ball )? Seems strange we spent so long looking at Idiakez, when maybe Silas could have done a similar job? To send him on loan for two seasons running makes no sense at all, but I suppose both Wolves and Silas must have agreed to the situation.<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /></DIV>

Can only agree with that. Really thought that Silas would have been Glenns 'kind of player'. The fact that he's spent 2 yearson loan suggests that he really, really doesn't want to be here. Possibly to Camarat proportions, just a bit quieter.

Silas's best moment is when he left the club which I hope will become permanent ASAP. Totalwaste of time and money.smileys/smiley7.gif
Deep down I'd love him to suddenly become this great player DJ led us to believe he was but I've now accepted it will just never happen.

I may be misreading, but it looks like you have beef with Silas. Surely your anger should instead be bewilderment aimed at Jones/Hoddle/Moxey?

Nothing against Silas DW as a person, I don't even know him but for a player portrayed as being something special and in our Prem season he was a disaster. His loan spels have just saved he club some wages but I dare say Wolves will lose out overall as I can't imagine we will/would get a great deal for him now.
Any beef mate re Silas is purely with Jones. As I recall he'd supposedly had Silas watched over a great length of time so WTF did the scouts actually report back FFS?

Is his contract up at the end of the season? <?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
Plus, didn’t we insert a clause in his loan contract that his new club had an option to buy him at any point for………………….£3m!?!?
£3m!?
We paid £1.5m at most didn’t we? How has his value increase since he'd starred for Wolves?

Well going by past DJ comments he was a class player???.
He was never given a chance in the Prem and DJ obviously didn't feel he would cut it in the CCC???, strange.
As to why GH doesn't want him back I don't know but wonder if he is on silly money and Wolves are happy for someone else to pay the wages of another of DJ's pointless Prem signings.

Silas signed a 3-year deal with the option of another year, and didn't he agree to the further year so we could at least get a transfer fee for him? Not a bad gesture considering how he was never given a chance under Jones.

GEEK.
My greatest Silas moment:
It's the 2nd leg of thesemi final of the league cup, Wolves are $$$$$$ing the league, we're 15 points ahead with a 100% record at home, unfortunately at Molineux the Arsenal team destroyed us 4-1.
Silas is the attacking midfielder. He bags three in normal time and then sets up the winner for Oskarrsson in extra time.
Wolves go through and we're in Europe the following season, we don't win the UEFA, but we qualify for the Champions League.
Bostin.
