View Full Version : WHO Instead of Hoddle??

Come on who do you want and why will they succeed where others have failed??

Turner took it as far as he could. Taylor was the man then big slow lump De Wolf got injured which $$$$$$$ed things up. Mcghee was the man then $$$$$$$ed it up. Lee $$$$$$$ed it up. Jones did it got shafted then $$$$$$$ed it up. Hoddle was a step forward into the glorious future has he $$$$$$$ed it up yet??

Redknapp? Mcleish? Tim Henman? who is the best bet out there to get this horrible millstone around are necks up into the $$$$$$$ing Prem and keep us there....

...or is it just a case of cutting the wage bill?

George Burley. Cant beat a good spit roast in the changing room. (Alledgedly)

Love to see Burley, but if not let us try something totally radical and build slowly....Get in an experienced director of football....possibly Bobby Robson, who can then help our more dynamic young coach, Paul Ince, assisted by Striker coach, Steve Bull, Ince looking after midfield and Irwin in as defensive coach (although there may be other alternatives to this).

I think most people would find this too scarey and claim it would not work...but then people who are conservative do tend to be happier with the 'big name', safe option....just like Wolves have been for the past 10years+ and look where that has got us.

I agree with SOA. We should be building slowly, lets be radical and think (and portray the fact too), long term, but don't see why Hoddle can't be the man to do this. Closest thing this country has to a continental football brain, but still English enough to understand the passion of the fans (alright Big Sam, but he's not going anywhere but the England job).

But if we did panic, could do worse then Lawrie Sanchez

Phys Ed, I am about to shock some on here, but if Hoddle DID say, stuff this boys, let's change the whole approach, put in a system and specialist coaching, with me overseeing...and I will look at bringing through the youth rather than buying, but you will have to gorget promotion this season...and maybe next, but we will build a dynasty and we will start playing some great football.....I would be Glenn's number one fan.

EXACTLY!!

I don't think the fans would mind (maybe being generous there), as long as we were told up front, then in 3 years time, if we didn't get where we wanted, or looked as if no improvement was forthcoming, THEN change things round.

If we came out and said that, we'd have a much better chance of signing the best young talent out there as we'd be giving them the best chance of a footballing career.

C'mon SAO, lets go on The Dragon's Den and market this bad boy!!!smileys/smiley2.gif

if nowt came of it though it's be 3 years wasted in many eyes and utter failure.

Burley's a good shout though he did $$$$$$$ it up in the end at Ipswich and they're back with us now. Also is it just me but has he got a chip on his shoulder about us?? when he's a pundit on sky he's always having a pop at us it seems to me.

Ian Dowie would be top of my list, but I guess that would hinge on how his relationship with Simon Jordan is these days. If its a bad as it was made out to be last season then maybe he'd leave.

someone who's been there and done it...the promotion thing. joe royle, kenny keegan, george burley, dont think that baxter feller has been in div 1 has he? if we dont go up this season hoddle should go unless he drops his wages.

on next season, if we havent gone up and the purse strings are tightened will the chief executive lose any pay or even volunteer to drop his wagessmileys/smiley30.gif

Gotta be Wenger or Mourinho or Benitez.

Failing that I'd go for Penny Crayon with Worzel Gummidge as a replacement for Bobby Mimms. Also Chris Evans to be replaced by the real Chris Evans with Billie Piper as head Physio. Carl Hoddle can stay though.

What's the last 12 months been? A practice run? Must have been the ludicrous wages that fooled me into it being a serious attempt at moving the club forward. After all he was brought in to try and get us into the play-offs LAST SEASON wasn't he?
