If we do go up I'd expect the same sort of investment as last time. I can't see the board changing their stance and throwing £15m at it, like they should of done last time. The only way we'd have a realistic chance of staying in the premiership is if Sir Jack decided to sell up.
I do take your point. I'd imagine Sunderland fans are finding this season to be their worst in memory. I hated the start of our Prem season myself as well. Much rather win a few in division 1 than get humped every week like they are.

But didn't Rick Hayward say we should have invested more last time and it was mistake not to? If so, he clearly intends to invest more this time.

How much more though? I can't see Jack investing much more, and that leaves £15-20m(?) of the Sky money and there's no way we'll use more than half of that which is understandable. So it would be down to Sir Jack to have one last try at keeping us the Prem, can't see it though so i'll expect similar investment to last time.

I would rather we were being F'd in the A on a regular basis and scraping points together to try and stay in the promised land than to be looking on from outside in those brief moments when our season in hell hasn't bored me to sleep.
(Although getting humped in the derbies would hurt, is no derby really better than that?)

In my house?
$$$$$$$ yes! At least sat round the table at Christmas with 5 Albion fans I can dismiss they're claims of superiority as we haven't actually played each other. All of us "knowing" they are better is much preferable to it actually being proved!!!!!!!!1smileys/smiley9.gif

Take out a big loan for the exact amount of the sky money we'd eventually get and havethe proper $$$$$$$ing go we fans and this club deserves.
If we balls up we'll be where we are now with a bit of parachute money to come for another charge. Happy days!

Hoddle managing us in the PL is a different matter to in the CCC.
We would be happy (at least most of us) with survival and beating Man Utd at home every seasonsmileys/smiley2.gif.
We would lose fewer matches under Hoddle than we did under Jones, so bearing in mind Tesco have now established 34 pts (smileys/smiley7.gif) as the survival target, we'd be ok with GH.

34 won't keep a team up this year
Seeing as Sunderland appear to have their hearts set on breaking the low points total record again, everyone else will benefit to the tune of at least 4 and probably 6 points from them. Pompey may also finish with a small total (I hopesmileys/smiley2.gif).
I reckon 38 or possibly even 40 to survive this year

And Tim was promptly sent to bed without his tea by Sir Jack for speaking out of turn. Jezo on hearing this said well done Mighty one that has saved us the cost of a meal. It all helps.
Hoddle is probably a better defensive / set pieces coach than Jones, which is very important in the Premiership. The attacking style that Jones employed successfully in the Championship didn't work in the Premiership and he was able to change it.
Hoddle has a better reputation worldwide than Jones (rightly or wrongly), so would be in a better position to attract players to the club.
Hoddle is developing a younger team than the team Jones took up where Ince, Irwin & Blake were probably just too old to keep up (although Rae did a fantastic job).
Lescott will probably be fit and Craddock will hopefully have got his confidence back.
We probably won't have to pay out quite so much in promotion related bonuses and fees.
We will probably only need 34 draws to stay up - well within our capabilities.
So all in all, if we scrape up through the play-offs then......
...we've had it.

Maybe Wigan and WH will be the new blue print for survival, I don't think they spent too much money did they?

I've said before that if we did get promotion I think Hoddle's style of play would keep us up, because that is what it is designed to do....win points against opponents that attack you, and in the PL they will attack. But it also has a limiter to it, so once you reach about 10th in the PL it becomes useless and you sit between 10th and 15th, because some teams will not attack you and you will get little from those matches...look at his record...with Southampton, Chelsea and Spurs...always the same type of record...with England his only real success was in Le Tournoi because we were the outsiders and teams attacked us.
His problem is he only has ONE TACTIC and that is why we are struggling.....I said this LAST season...it is all quite predictable...IF he got us up we WOULD survuve, but we would NEVER win any trophies under him.....survival may sound now, but it would become as unacceptable as the nonsense we are currently suffering.

If we do go up I'd hope for new owners and pronto.
This isn't a go at SJHhere but if he has retained the same attitude and approach upon our last promotion then promotion this time will be another waste of time.
There is no way in a month of Sundays that Wolves could remian in the top flight without signing at least half a dozen quality players and that alone would cost £15M plus.

Wolves getting promoted would be a dream BUT the reality of it is that our squad is not a great deal different to when DJ was in charge - which does not surprise me at all!smileys/smiley7.gif
The likes of Wigan and West Ham have done ok in the Prem because they can beat the teams in the lower part of the Prem and defend better than the teams below them
Wolves on the other hand have got little strength in depth in defence and can't just rely on Joleon to be a one man defence in the Prem
If and its a BIG ask we did go up via the play offs - Moxey imho should step aside and allow Hoddle to negotiate and promote the team plans to would be players - with certain guidelines from the club on wages etc
Like many other people I had REALLY hoped that the Jackie M signing was a signal of intent but alas same old same old ........smileys/smiley19.gif
The joys of being a Wolves fan - Happy days! smileys/smiley2.gif

love to see us scrapping for survival in the prem again. if we can be
bore draws with a few wins there, we'd be sorted. much preferable to
the total dirge of the division from hell yet again

I'd settle for that in the 1st season but the club need to press onwards and upwards should they ever get promoted again and not penny pinch which inevitably cost them more in the long run.

Agreed Essex - I just hope that IF we go up via the play offs - the Haywards either put up funds that imho they CAN afford to do so if they wish OR just genuinely put the club UP for sale WITHOUT any stupid terms and conditions etc etc

Were Wigan and West Ham much better than us last season? West Ham are
doing O.K. and they have not even spent a couple of million pounds.
Wigan are doing really well and they would have spent about the same,
had they not been shafted by the club that sold them a duff striker.
Staying in the Premier League appears to be more about having a good
manager than spending a lot of money, we spent more than any of the
teams that were fighting relegation with us and it didn't save us. Some
people have the financial nous of Peter Ridsdale in his Leeds prime and
think that the only way to succeed is to throw money at the problem.

Can`t see anything humiliating about getting promoted.Surprises always occur in any sport, Wolves beat Leeds in POF -Have money to spend-we get all players HOD wants- injury free pre season -then relegated. If you`re not in it you can`t prove the pundits wrong.
Humiliation in the Premiership everytime, and also afew surprises.
