It seems that the Club are continuing to be sensible in the buying stakes. If DJ was still in charge, he probably would have thrown another half a mill at this one!

It's not DJ's money, he would have paid what the club allowed! It's clear the club are preparing for failing to go up and the financial change it will bring
Agreed ... one thing you can say about hoddle is that he doesnt panic buy.
We do desperately need to add some quality to the squad and I amglad that its young up and coming english players we are looking at!
The cynic in me would have to ask why we had a bid for at least one player turned down whilst full season tickets were for sale, and now have another bid turned down whilst half season tickets are on sale. Its easy to have a bid turned down and then tell everyone how hard you're working and how its not your fault its silly English clubs asking silly prices and how lucky we are that Glenda isn't prepared to pay over the odds.
It would be nice to know exactly who we've bid for and for how much money so we can decide whether the club are indeed moving forward and 'working hard' towards bringing players in or just making headlines.

Good - there's no point shelling out silly money only to have to sell those players at a loss if we dont go up.

Or put the ticket prices up 20% to pay the wage billsmileys/smiley7.gif
Sensible moves from the club at long last, don't see how the credit can go to Glenn though, it is surely a new policy from Rick/Jez/Paul and SJH(by re-affirming the club are on their own).

Very true as he has not bought anyone yet.smileys/smiley4.gif However what we dont know is how much the club has paid for in signing on fees and wages for Hoddle's newcomers.
Why though should we expect other clubs to hand over their best players to us at the price we think we should pay. Its up to us to find players and bring them on if we are not prepared to pay the sellers asking price.

Exactly, its easy to look at the League One goalscoring charts, pick a player, and expect his club to bow down before the great Wolves. It takes real skill to identify a player that maybe isn't performing at his current club, or isn't getting a game, or isn't being played in the right position - sign him and transform him into a top player. I'm sure Sheff Utd fans weren't thrilled about signing Neil Shipperly on a free transfer but he's done the job for them so far.
Im not sure who deserves the credit, but obviously it wont be Lord Satan himself smileys/smiley2.gif
It could well be, and well done to him if it is. Perhaps he is realising we can't be milked forever, and that the largest wage bill is no guarrentee of success so is counter productive.
Whatever the reason is, if it's down to you, welcome to the real world Jez

The Daily Mail reports that MK Dons have turned down our £1.3 million bid for Izale McLeod.Edited by: old wittonian

Sooooo........Moxey says it is Hoddle who won't pay over a certain
amount, but he would be happy to negotiate slightly around that fee?
I thought everyone on here says the manager only identifies the
targets, and Jez is the ones who decides how much he will/won't spend?
Or is Jez subtlely offering the fans a scapegoat if the deal doesn't go
through? Though I doubt he would publicly insinuate the manager in any
deal to get himself off the hook as it's a bit too obvious and I'm sure
Glenn wouldn't be happy if it wasn't true.
So if it's true that Glenn has a say in the money spent on transfer dealings it would suggest that people on here
don't always know what they are talking about when it comes to the
clubs purchasing of players and who decides what money to spend.
But that COULDN'T be true could it!!??

If that figure its true its flapping ludicrous. £1.3million for someone who can run fast, but not finish from 2 yards? (MK fans view). Hmmm.
It does seem crazy. There can't be another country in the world where anyone would consider buying a 21 year old player from the 3rd division for 1.3 million.
Isn't this a player who played a handful of games for Derby and they let him go (for nothing), played a hanful of games onloan for Sheff Utd and they didn't bother to sign him (for nothing), and then signed for MK Dons (for nothing)? He is now worth 1.3 million? I am staggered.
Next thing you know, someone will tell me that a 21 year old Portugese that played a few games for Porto is worth 6.25 million and who'd believe that?

I think though you will find there is a sell on clause from Derby though.

Why? I think your first scenario makes sense and is consistent with Moxey in the past.....'I wanted to get someone, but if we don't it's not my fault' sounds like the pie man all over.
As for your second point, it still reads as if Moxey has been the main person to decide fees and wages...in fact the 'deal around the edges' remark means he leaves himself in the clear no matter what happens.....That's what I admire anout the man....takes credit and no blame....don't you just love having someone in charge who accepts no responsibility or blame.....or maybe you can find all the quotes where he does that.

if he can run fast and can't finish he sounds like we could flog him straight on to Celtic as a Mo Camara replacement

Moxey is again doing a good job at what he is paid to do.
If the player is McLeod and MK Dons are asking silly money it will be their loss and on their gates can they afford to be too greedy?
Wouldn't surprise me now that a line has been drawn that the deal goes ahead.
