Top bloke .. he was actually still playing football last season up until he went off to do the tour de france. He was playing for the mighty Brintons Chainwire in the Kidderminster Sunday Premier.

i still think it should have been vaughan for sports personality as he led the team to ashes victory. he played a bigger part than flintoff who did win it. vaughan didn't even make the top 3!! ridiculous

Yes, it was quite unbelievable what Geoff managed to do. The Tour is probably the hardest physical challengein the sporting world and tocomplete eachstagein the same amount of days it takes the professionals is quite an amazing achievement, even more so after his illness. I know many people in the world of cycling thought he had bitten off more than he could chew. Many a seasoned amateur cyclists have attempted asimilar feat only to fail.I'm a huge fan of Lance Armstrong but his autocue reading when congratulating Geoff was terrible!

Surprised that the BBC allowed a couple of funnybut borderlinejokes - the one about getting Gavin Henson out of church - and the bit about posh totty with Zara Phillips there - made me laugh but I'm sure the complaints will be flying in from the blue rinse brigade.
