Just looking back over some posts from the start of the season:

The early tables always change so much in the first 6/8 weeks.

As long as we stay in touch (ie aprox 6 points) with the top two, then I'll be happy at the end of November.

august 9th (forum_posts.asp?TID=1564&KW=automatic)

(smileys/smiley11.gif) TWENTY POINTS OFF THE PACE. are you happy now?

I agree, he should have been a miserable tw*t at the start of the season and not even bothered going. Or better still, decide to go, whinge constantly and then punt his ticket on to someone else and watch Soccer Saturday every week. That's what the real fans do.

I suppose we should look on the bright side? What is the bright side? Oh. yes - at least we aren't 40 points off the pace smileys/smiley1.gif

You're having a go at someone because they didn't approach the season with morbid pessimism? Do me a favour.

No-one is happy we're nowhere near the top two. No-one's happy we've drawn almost 50% of our games. No-one's happy we've scored 11 goals at home. By the same token, I'm sure no-one's that happy we've got "fans" who delight in digging up three month old threads and deride people for actually hoping for the best in the coming season.Edited by: Deutsch Wolf

The brightside is that you sold your season ticket.

The brightside is that you sold your season ticket.

Yes I did. But I also want to make a statement that I am fundamentally unhappy with the performance of the manager in a season that both the chairman and the chief executive has called 'make or break'.

The whole thing has been an unmitigated disaster. Mid-table, gates of 14,000 and the pay as you play signings of Dion Dublin and Gerry Taggart await for next season.

The lemurs on central soccer night could have managed this team better than Hoddle. Now he is going to make the panic buy to end all panic buys - Izale McLeod.

Now he is going to make the panic buy to end all panic buys - Izale McLeod.$

We've watched him for months, so how would it be a panic buy?

Corby Wolf

Because he has a 1% chance of making it a decent striker at his level. It might just come off. It almost definitely wont though. That's why he currently not setting the lower reaches of the football league on fire. Betting the very future of the club on him is plain silly

1 possible signing and you class it as "betting the future of the club"

How are we doing that? Assuming the player in question was McLeod, we've refused to pay an inflated price for him. We're doing what a number of fans have suggested we do, pick up young talent from the lower leagues and try to develop them, rather than buying "oven-ready" players. IF we sign McLeod, I doubt we'll pay over £500k. That's something we can afford to do, in the knowledge that if we don't go up, Cort, Miller and Seol will be off the wage bill.

I don't rate McLeod, but I can't see how we're "betting the future of the club" on him.

Winker Warnock buys lots of strikers, some succeed, some don't, but at least he does something to improve the chances for his team, and I notice that Sheff. Utd are above us in the table!

All we've beengettingfor months areexcuses from Moxey and Hodgod. Well no more. Gambles have to betaken because we can't carry on as if our present squad is capable of winning games. If the Haywards, Moxey and Hodgod don't like a gamble they shouldn't be in football, 'cos that's what all football is.There are no certainties when buying players, but that's not an excuse for doing nothing.

So Corby dug up an old thread? Call the FBI Ma Baker...NO ONE as ever done that before have they...what's wrong with a few of you then, getting worried that a few more might be dug up to show that 90% on here obviously have no judgement and were completely taken in by the b*lls!$* of Hoddle and Moxey...well welcome to the real world...and please don't get upset if your opinions are not taken too seriously....after all so far you have been pretty wide of the mark....

Automatic promotion anyone......?

Sorry, people like myself and Corby did not approach the season with pessimism, just realism, but the happy clapper, head in the clouds mob accused of being pant wetters.....from where I am it's all the unrealists who look like pant wetting panic merchants, the realists are calm....because the season is unfolding as we expected....badly.

No-ones allowed to know why people are banned. It keeps you on your toes.

whitemouse75

fair enough. i like a bit of mystery.

although the mystery is, when it takes about 8 days for a thread to fall off the main page lately, how come there is no suspect postings by corby?

have the thread-deleting fairies been at work again?

Corby was not his first id on here,

So?

Is that the reason for banning him?

How can you expect to have standards of behavior if no-one is told what people are banned for and therefore what is unacceptable?

Sorry to of taken so long to respond, although Deutsch Wolf has done a fine job on my behalf.

I apologise for being optimistic at the start of the season and yes I am disappointed that we have lost touch with the top two.

Corby - Wolves are in my blood and I would still go and watch them if they were playing in the Sunday League...I don't apologise for that.

Happy now?

We are pretty screwed for automatic but two points off a playoff place is diddly squat. Radical change isn't the solution, if we are still where we are now in a year I might agree with you. All the ideas I've run through suggests preserving the management for now. SOA, even you thirst for some long(er) term thinking.

Automatic promotion anyone......?

<DIV>There is a fine line between success and failure in this division - no doubt -SOA did you tip Reading,Leedsand Sheffield Utd at the start of the season ? If so you will be a wealthy man at the end of it. Personally I feel rather more positive than having witnessed us lose 2-1 to Bradford Christmas 2002-2003, followed by 0-0 against Derby. A change of fortune can happen for that you will have to admire the persistence of all involved.</DIV>
