I was born 65 years too early...no wonder my best shots never went in...the bloody ball wasn't round the "sweet spot" was too small and the top speed on our "casey" was about 10 miles an hour with a following wind.

However since my early football was played with an old outer case stuffed with grass..(they couldn't spare us any rubber for an inner tube duringthe war)...I shouldn't grumble!! If you have never headed a soaking wet casey stuffed with wet grass you ain't lived..especially when the lace catches you across the forehead!! smileys/smiley11.gif

I was just trolling across the Rivals site mate and this article made me think how much football equipment has changed over the years. I think the average footy player of 50 years ago must have weighed 100lbs more than a similar player today. smileys/smiley1.gif

How on earth can it take 4 years to develop a ball ffs? smileys/smiley5.gif You get some leather and get a machine to sew it into a sphere.

The new premireship ball is in development too! Dont honestly knowif it will beintroduced for this coming season, but they have commented about it on Ford Super Sunday and Monday Night Football live on sky saying that the balls are getting lighter and lighter and the goalkeepers are complaining about the balls moving (curling)too much in the air. The new one is supposed to be worse!!!!!!
