Saw GH denying this on SSN this morning. Stuart Pearce wants him to go out on loan. Could he be the goalscorer we're looking for to tide us over or is he a washed up, over-the-hill has-been (that would fit in well smileys/smiley36.gif)?

Personally I think he could do a job for us in the Championship while we're waiting for Miller and Cort to return.

I'd absolutely cream my pants if we got Fowler. Fabulous at hold-up play, a vocal character on (and off) the pitch, bags of experience and if fit would easily get 30 goals in a full season at this level.

I can't see it though, as they have absolutely no back-up strikers behind Cole, Vassell and Fowler (unless you count Bradley Wright-Phillips, who only gets a gig because of his brother).

i'd be happy as long as we pay no more than 0.2% of his wages. lets face it, we'd be better off woth Kevin Francis up top than Leon.

No thank you, Miller Cort and Ganea are all better than he is now. Used
to be good, but now he's past it. I'd take him on a 1month loan at the
longest. He's hardly a model professional for the youngsters either.

Del Woppio

"It's a flier yeah - you read them all the time," Hoddle told Sky Sports News.

"But it's nothing we've spoken about, even within the club so it just shows you how far journalists get it wrong - they hit row Z when they shoot."

Is Leon Clarke a journalist??

Bradley W-P is a great player. Many of the coaches at city expect him to become better than his brother eventually.

I too would cream myslef all over Robbie.

He'd score a goal a game at least! an incredibly good finisher who's certainly not past it from what I saw last season. Quite similar to Vio in some respects which is my only qualm, I'd sooner have someone who's a bit quicker to replace Clarke so we can ship him out on loan and hope he gets his confidence back!!!Edited by: AndyP

Better finisher than anyone at the club, if we can create chances he'd put them away.

Andy P totally agree. A confident Clarke is required and it will take a time on loan for that

Fowler was shot 2 seasons ago!! well not actually shot but you know what i mean. I'd love it if he were to show some of his class of old but doubt it.

The championship is not at such a level below the prem for fowler to make much differenc to what we have.

(I'd have him over clarke though thats a given )

I disagree, he did go through a really bad spell, but in the second half of last season, he was absolutely superb for Citeh.

I wouldn't go that far but when on form he's always been class. It's just because his form's so shaky (of last few seasons) that we are able to class him as a realistic target.

He wasn't good at all last season, though he's regressed dramatically even from those low standards.

He scored a few goals, but his technique and general play was woeful. It's amazing how he's actually got worse in every area of his game since then.

He was a class act at Liverpool, and very underused by England.....Then I think being forced out of Liverpool by Houllier really upset him and heended up getting moreenjoyment from his other love..... erm........houses!!!

Would be a very "good shout", and I think he would "do a job" ona short term loan. How much has he been palying this season, or would we merely get him fit, he'd find his touch by the last game, then we'd send him back

He's a big lad, bigger than you think, and would do very well at this level, methinks.

Sadly I think even Fowler's previously pinpoint finishing accuracy has left him as well as his fitness. He's got a quality reputation from his previous years, but I would neversign a player on history.

Strikers. Grab ,em while they're hot& have faith, like we did with Bully & Miller. Lita. Tyson. McLeod? Missed opportunities? We missed out on the prime years of Collymore & Roberts.

Fowler was a god at Anfield, who, like Lucifer, the most beautiful angel, couldn't cope with the rejection of being banished from heaven. He ended up accentuating the negative. He was considered a better prospect than Owen. But then so were Cadamatri & Branch over at Goodison. Strike while the iron is hot & don't waste talent.

He's had his hot streak & is unlikely to rediscover it. He hasn't looked after himself like Sheringham. And, like Ian Wright, he was pants for England.

SOA Wolf
18-11-2005, 23:12
Perhaps Fowler fancies buying some houses in the area (Shropshire has the highest rise in the country at the moment...I cannot imagine that has been missed by 'Mr Property Man') and he's asked Stuart Pearce to let him down here for a month or so, inorder to let him check the area out.

Just a thought.

No need anymore - we've got an ideal partnership in Ndah and Ganea to see us thro our injury crisis!

(Ndah - not injured - whats all that about?)smileys/smiley36.gif

Essex Wolf

Do we need Fowler?

Ganea is on form, Ndah making a comeback?? and with Miller and Cort to return soon, hopefully, why on earth would we want a washed up Fowler?

IMAB
19-11-2005, 14:07
Personally I'd rather have Barry Hayles.

EasternWolf
19-11-2005, 14:37
Ganea and Ndah could easily become a very potent strikeforce partnership. I know we need cover until Miler and Cort are back but Seol can play in the middle quite effectively if we can get a youngster in on loan.

We do not need an overpaid, fat and washed up player like Fowler. Given his talent, if he had any form at all Stuart Pearce would want to keep him. It follows therefore that he would only be put out on loan if he was playing badly. We dont need the disruption in our dressing room to bring him in.
