View Full Version : OT: Scam?
For ages now I have been receiving phone calls from companies who, to
thank us for taking part in their research recently, want to send us
the lastest personal organiser or something similar. When I say it's
against company policy to accept things for free they offer to send it
to my home address. If I say no to this they usually hang up on me.
Ring any bells? It's really starting to $$$$$$ me off!!

Wouldn't you know, we have the same thing here....
If you agree to having the filofax (or whatever) sent to the company FAO a job title that doesn't exist, it either shuts them up because they've got what they want, or moves the conversation on to the point when you find out their real reason for calling.
I think we got it sent to our MD......smileys/smiley4.gif

I usually say "Hold on while I grab a pen"
An hour later I hang up the phone - at no expense to me!smileys/smiley2.gif
Don't get many repeat calls!

Register with TPS. Give it a month and you won't get any sales calls. It's
free to do and should you recieve any juicy sales calls then mention you
are registered with TPS and they will put the phone down very quickly.
I haven't had any for a year.

At my first job i gave the address to send it to and at the end of the call they tried to trick me into taking an order. Told them where to go and no personal organiser arrived. I decided to ring themand quote the reference number they left me saying it hadn't turned up. They then sent it out. Few weeks later exactly the same so i did exactly the same and got another one, i think the reference number might have even been the same!
