It was 18 months ago, he made all his grovelling apologies for his very poor choice of words. Isn't is about time people grew up about this? The matter should now be closed and Big Ron allowed to rejoin the human race!
From my point of view I notice how people appear on TV and mock Italians (and Germans, French, Spaniards, Americans, Austrlians, Chinese, etc), the way they look, the way they speak and its considered amusing. It even seems acceptable to use the words wop, dago, frog, kraut, etc.
I don't find any of the Italian stuff offensive. In fact I like that Dolmio advert with the frisky puppets in their kitchen!
Big Ron made an error sure but does that mean he should be banished from public life forever? Maybe for his dress sense and bad haircut though!

Know what you are saying LI but a line needs to be drawn somewhere I suppose. If Big Ron was allowed back into the lime light as such then Rodney Marsh would be entitled to the same privelidge I'd imagine.
In a nutshell if he was allowed back out to play then someone somewhere would create over it.

I've heard them used in everyday life and people don't bat an eyelid, its considered amusing. Use the word nigger and you're a racist.

We live in a democracy and as such freedom of speach is a fundamental right. You may not agree with what is being said and you can debate why you don't and put forward your point of view.
If Walsall want to book Big Ron then that's fine. People book up to see the likes of Bernard Manning and they know what to expect so that's their right. The same for Big Ron. People can book up to see him and listen to his tedious stories of yesterday year.
That's fine with me, I'll give it a miss though I think?
surely he should be hanged?

Would the Sun (largest newspaper readership in the UK) use a headline including the word "Kraut" or "Frog".
Now ask yourself if they would use the word "nigger".
I don't approve of either and I hate the Suns blatent xenophobia, but there are sections of society who see the words Kraut, Frog etc as a bit of a joke, whilst the same people would never usethe word nigger.

Neither actually. Just highlighting that using the word nigger or paki has become a social taboo in Britain yet terms suchas wop, dago, frog, kraut, chink, etc are still considered amusing and harmless.

As basher said, it is up to people to decide whether they go to this event or not and possibly for Walsall fans to contact their club if they onbject...if they didn't sell the tickets then he wouldn't get booked.
Personally don't know why anyone would want to pay to go and see him.....he comes accross as a complete knob.....or is that sexist? In which case a cu(swear filter kicks in)
