The team have just returned from Withdean and I was talking to GH for about ten minutes on the seafront. He is finding it difficult to bring anyone into the side from thePremiership ... surprise, surprise .... butis very much keeping a look out for a striker at present.

One name he did mention, Earnshaw... he didn't however suggest himon-loan ........ January window anyone??? He's does not seem keen on Thyson, so forget that.

Other than that, same old, should be scoring more and putting teams to bed.....etc!

Did he give you a prediction for tonight. I.e. which forward is going to get injured?

on and on and on about when we signed GH was
how Glenn would be able to attract quality players to
Wolves....

or Anderton, Huddlestone, Ross, Gyepes. The players he has managed to bring in have all improved the squad. And all have international calibre whether it is full or U21.

SSW

Robert Earnshaw would be an excellent signing. He's got plenty of pace,
knows where the goal is at this level, etc. In fact he knows where the
goal is at Prem level too so it's a bit of a mystery why Robson won't
play him at the Albion. Plus Earnshaw's agent is Mel Eves so that might
smooth the way a bit. What did the Albion pay for him? £2.5m? Let's
offer them their money back in Jan.

That's too pricey anyway, he's not worth that. Bid £1.5M and he could be worthwhile.Edited by: Axle

How about £2m plus Olofinjana ( he'd be great in the Prem, so I'm told )?

SSW
01-11-2005, 13:44
Are we in a position to quibble over the fee? Is £3.5m that much more
than £2.5m when a potential saviour for our season is at stake? We're
supporters not accountants.

Let's offer the Albion a big loan fee and take Earnshaw NOW with a view to buying him in Jan.

Axle
01-11-2005, 13:47
I'm still not convinced that the fans are going to take to him. He's not a saviour in the mould of SGB and we're not in asdire a situation as then.

Don't think it would work. Smacks of desperation and we don't need anymore of that at Mol.

Yep, missed a reasonable chance when they were 1-0 down.

I'm not particularly convinced we should sign him, especially with such a hefty price tag.

Jamboon
01-11-2005, 13:51
I'm sure he does and think he would be a good signing not taking into acount the relationship between the two clubs. but, how many times did he get them out of jail last season after coming on as subwhen they needed a diferent option!? The way they're playing currently and predicting another relegation fight can they really afford to get rid of such an asset?

Albion we're raped when they paid £3.5m for him. he is a decent Championship striker. My random striker vote on loan goes to.....

Michal Chopra at Newcastle. Quick, skillfull, good finisher, 4th or 5th in the pecking order, needs experience before sir alan retires. come on greame....

yet Dour Dave got us promoted, something I'll bet £30 Hoddle won't do! He is paid far more than Jones was and as it has been stated before Hoddle has been able to attract players of quality like Jackie, Rohan, Anderton and Gypes but has he been able to make them work for the team???? jackie unfortuanately is now injured but from the other signings is he worth the huge deal he is on? i think not! He is now struggling to get anyone in with a ounce of quality even though he has money to spend!!!

Deutsch Wolf
01-11-2005, 15:47
For all that I can't see how Dave Jones is relevant to this argument, here goes:

Dave Jones was on around £200k a year (conservatively) and spent £13m in his first season.

Glenn Hoddle is on £500k a year (plus bonuses for promotion) and has spent nothing in his first year.

Wow, we were so much better off then.

Ashley
01-11-2005, 15:57
dave jones is only relevant as you mentioned his name in an earlier postsmileys/smiley5.gif

i know he's spent nothing so far but look where we are? the reason i'm p***ed off is that if what has been said by the thread starter is true then why oh why is Glenn struggling to get a striker in in November when he had all summer to sort the squad out but chose to waste 2 months chasing 2 derby players instead! Poor judgement from him and now he's been found out he's panicking!
