Just for rain man:

It's pretty obvious that I don't like Leon Clarke. However, nothing would give me more pleasure than seeing him crack the winning goal in tonight.

Therefore, for the next 24 hours, there'll be no slating of the teenage prodigy from me.

Altogher now:

"He's tall, he's fat, he looks like he's just shat, Leon Clarke, Leon Clarke!"

The point i'm making is this; It is rather obvious really,

scenario 1:

Leon Clarke is through on goal in the first 10 minutes of the match. He
misses/the keeper saves and a few hundred fans scream '$$$$$$$ing hell
Clarke, my nan could have put that away'. The crowd are then more
anxious, which transfers itself to the pitch. Clarke is through again,
this time he hits the post. The screams of derision are now even
louder, the crowd become even more anxious and this transfers itself
onto the pitch.

Scenario 2:

Leon Clarke is through on goal in the first ten minutes of the match.
He misses/the keeper saves and a few hundred fans shout "Unlucky Leon,
come on lad get your head up." Or words to that effect. The crowd then
feel more positive, which transfers itself onto the pitch. Clarke is
through again, this time he hits the post. The screams of encouragment
are now even louder, the crowd feel even more positive and this
transfers itself onto the pitch..

Which one is going to help the team and which one is going to hinder them? It isn't rocket science.

So you're saying he's crap as well. If he was any good he would have buried at least one of those chances.

Which scenario do you think is more likely, though?

Don't blame me, I'm only allowed to shout something once a month from the Billy Wright Upper.

I know which one will be more likely dw, but it shouldnt be like that.

As I have said on previous occasions Leon Clarke is $$$$$...

If he starts scoring goals, shows some quality of any sort and perhaps (gasp) some pace I will be more than willing to change my mind.

Promoted with leon Clarke as a lead striker sounds almost like an oxymoron.

Apparently according to 90% of the posters on this board the crowd reaction has no effect on the players on the pitch.

I actually think he is a good player.

he needs to play in the middle up front centre forward

no right wing left wing midfield.

He Is a scorer, he will get you goals, he needs a run in the team and confidence.

As a centre forward you need confidence

Booooo....blame the fans, typical.

Were you at Chorley?

No, I was only 8.

I'm not blaming the fans, it isn't their fault that we miss chance
after chance but the reaction to any mistake/miss in the first 20
minutes usually only goes to help the opposition.
