Curious as to what the general feeling is about promotion to the Prem!

Let us imagine Glen baby strikes a deal with the Archangel Gabriel and the teams above us don't win another game this season..but we go on to win the league. Looking at our team now and the displays that laughingly pass for football..how would we fare in the Prem starting next season?

We have got anything from 5 to 8 mill kicking around..would this buy us enough clout to stay up? Bearing in mind that we are going to lose maybe Miller as well as Ince and Jackie M..so these two stalwarts will definitely have to be replaced. Probably a new goalie, certainly a mid field general and a solid full back.

Obviously there is no time to blood our younger players.. so anything we do will have to be paid for in cold hard cash. We cannot squeeze any more out of the ST's..you guys would go ape..so who will pay the price for our success? I am just interested in where people think the amount required to make a fist in the Prem is going to come from?

My own guess is that without a bankroll of around 12 million..we would be playing ups anddowns again!!

Can we strike a deal with the devil for a home win?

You dont need a huge amount of money (listening Dave Jones?) to survive in the Prem, a little bit of luck but if you are organised and hard working with someone who can score you a goal or two up front you have got half a chance.

All 3 clubs who were promoted last season are doing well, having seen even Sunderland they are better than their points tally suggests and a little bit of luck and they could stay up.

Here's a novel idea - try the Warnock Scattergun approach.

Instead of taking one prospect per decade from the lower leagues let's take 6 per season - total wages, about the same as Anderton. Let's hope that one or two come good.

If not then we've only lost out on one injury-prone journeyman who is only capable of 50 minutes a game - but we might unearth the next Tim Cahill or David Nugent.

I sold my soul to get us into the Premiership the last time, so I need one of you lot to offer one up!smileys/smiley2.gif

I have to suffer years of eternal damnation for that one less-than-glorious year in the big time!smileys/smiley7.gif
