1 and a halfseasons a go we were relegated with Leeds. They were £10's million in debt and had players on a huge wages. When they appointed a new manager they had no choice really but to appoint from within. I bet many Leeds fans had even heard of Kevin Blackwell, but they needed someone cheap (i.e. no compensation to other clubs) and who didnt want money to spend.

Leeds really looked on downward spiral.

Now lookat us, we have sacked Jones and hired Hoddle atGREAT cost. But we are still behind them in the table. They have just beaten Southampton and Burnley and drawn with Sheffiled in last 3 games. That 7 points, where we only got 1 against those teams. They also ended our unbeaten run.

We also get bigger crowds.

Given this, how can we continually underacheive.

Because of the fans.

They play crap football which is highly effective at this level. It's no surprise that Warnock and mini-Warnock's teams are both in the top six.

Mind you, if either Sheff Utd or Leeds were playing in my back garden, I'd close the curtains and call the police.

but you've got to scrap your way out of this division, unless you're streets ahead of the rest of the league ala Fulham/Sunderland. We could do with playing with some of the fight used at brammal lane or elland road,

Is it any more sterile than the s!$*e we've been served up recently. I actually thought Sheff U played some good high tempo stuff against us

Depends which performances you're calling sterile. Was the Burnley game sterile? Cardiff? Leeds? Southampton?

The last two games have been poor, but I don't go along with this "it was a poor performance because we didn't win" line that people trot out.

Burnley yes, Cardiff no, Leeds second half yes, Southampton No.

Millwally, Leicester, Derby, PNE, Sheff Utd were all sterile, so that's nearly half the games we've played this season.

Think you hit the nail on the head, were far to lethargic, we sat off Sheffield Utd in the 1st half and we paid for it, everytime we had the ball we were closed down.

Other teams play at a break neck pace 1st half an hour. We play with no pace or urgency for 90 minutes, we play like Arsenal in some respects passing it around and look for the opening or killer ball.

After the equaliser on Saturday, Preston were rattled we and went after them, we pressured the ball, moved it around quicker and were more direct in our approach(not in the aerial sense).

We start far too slowly in games, we need to comeout and get at our opponents, we did it against Ipswich atthe mol last season andthe game was won inside half an hour.

We have the same players as the game above, that's why it is so frustrating to see teams like Leeds above us in the league.

Leeds seem to have a manager who knows what it takes to do well in this division and knows the sort of players you need to do well.

Hoddle doesn't.

I'm never sure what point posts like this are trying to make??

You could post the same thing and make comparisons to Leicester and Bradford, as they both went in to administration, and say how well we are doing.

You could say that there are only roughly 27 clubs in the country that are doing better than us at present.

To be honest I am not bothered what Leeds et all are doing. All that matters or concerns me is what is happening at the Mol and dubious or pointless comparisons don't interest me in the slightest.

You need to have the knack of playing not so well, and coming away with a win... we don't seem to have that edge at the moment.

I did like the fact since Kevin Blackwell took over he has been involved in 55 transfers.

Point I was tryoing to make is that ex-england manager Hoddle who is being payed $$$$$$$ loads of money is doing a less capable job then some no-mark reserve team coach promoted to manager of leeds.

Blackwell has not been afraid to try players out, unlike Hoddle who is waiting for Jesus Christ to pull on some boots or something!

Leeds may be above us but only just and I would hazard a guess that we will probably finish within about 5 points of each other come what May. Additionally Leeds spent money in the close season and backed their manager with the signings they needed.

To raise that money having been in huge debt just a few seasons before they hiked their season ticket prices up massively and have seen attendances at Elland Road, despite their improved performances, drop by around a third from last year and average only 20k, a club with a much bigger fan base than us.

Despite their reasonable start to the season the regime is deeply unpopular. Moxey isn't populart anyway but had we hiked our season tickets up as much as Leeds I guess we'd be averaging around 15,000, although the devil in me says they would be the loyal ones who would never boo or mutter any frustration when things go wrong.
