Thank god for that.

The ICC are currently working on the idea of having the top 2 teams to play each other every 4 years in a one off winner takes all (including a huge pot of dollar) match.

extra ashes matches then (at least until India get good enough to overtake the convicts)

Cricket seems to have disappeared from the back pages considering all the fashionistas claiming it was going to overtake football………..<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Because there aren't any games at the moment.....

It'll never replace football as the national game (or I should say re-take its status), but at least a few more people who used to say "cricket's boring" have given it a go and realised it's a great game.

its never going to overtake footy. still a cracking sport though and footy could learn a bit from it

as to the super series being dismissed, its a bit sad that it didnt
work. could have been really interesting, but its evidently hugely
flawed so top 2 teams play off is a pretty good idea i guess.

Good riddance Super Series. I've never seen a bunch of cricketers who so obviously didnt want to be there.

Roll on England's tour of Pakistan...

Didn't like the Super Series and don't like this new idea..... All nations play each other twice in a four or five year spell anyway.

the entire cricket world saw through it. Convict fans stayed away in droves. The world team was a tenth the sum of its parts. Selection was excessively political, resulting in Enlgand being under-represented and South Africa having too many invitees to the party. Undercooked players at the start of their season taking on pizzed off Oz who are match sharp from that great series and ready to get some painin as revenge was a recipe for disaster.

and yet the ICC don't recognise that following the ashes hada detrimental effect. What nonsense.

Me neither. As it stands, we'd have had the Ashes and then another series of England vs Australia straightaway. Overkill.

Like most sports cricket at its best is high drama as the summers Ashes contest proved!!!

It is clear that the aussies are in decline ..and england are in the ascendency ... the question is how far down will they go and how far up will we go? I suspect they will not go down as far as we were nor will we go up as far as they were. Agree it is a cracking game made even more so because the yanks dont try to play it ...a touch too cerebral methinks.

Who remembers the good old days when some pro cricketers became pro footballers in the winter.... a congratulations in order for the first person to remember on here who was the last wolves player to do that and to name the cricket team and country he played for.

The last time I heard of this scenario was when commentators said that gary liniker was a good enough cricketer to have played professionally for leicestershire...but he didn't.

scarily the yanks do play - I think they were at the last OD World Cup. However, they will NEVER get test cricket and thank the maker for small mercies

GOOD. Hopefully this will put an end to stupid people having a strip of
bleached hair down the centre of their head.
