Onto the subject of the thread (and the others). I dont think Matt Holland would be liked by Wolves fans if he ever signed.

The term Playmaker has often been confused with Pele in the past. Wolves fans just dont get it.

From The Guardian:

Mild-mannered Mattie Holland could be on the way back to his old stomping ground of Portman Road. A few knocks earlier this season mean the Irish midfielder has made more appearances in the Five Live commentary box than he has in a Charlton shirt, and the 31-year-old is pining for a return to Ipswich in a bid to get fit and play regular first-team football.

Though I realise that quotes from a newspaper mean nothing, and ridiculous, uncorroborated hyperbole is far more useful.

Return to Ipswich? you've got to be joking. He's still having flash backs of George Burley and Marcus Stewart spit roasting his missus when he walked into the dressing room.Edited by: Sparky

From today's BBC round-up of gossip..

Wolves boss Glenn Hoddle is hoping to sign Charlton midfielder Matt Holland on loan. (The Sun)

In the Sun - must be true.

Would <?:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Holland</st1:place></st1:City> be willing to move up here for a month or two? I remember there were more 'fashionable' clubs than Charlton interested when he left Ipswich but he chose to remain in that area so he didn’t have to relocate ( much ).
<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
Saying that, I'd be more than happy to see him here. The only problem is whether any of these Prem midfielders we have been linked with are 100% match fit, given the fact they wont have been playing 1st team football for a while.

scottishwolf II

interesting - the sun is just a tad varied on footy news. quite often
break big stories, but also they have reported that we are trying to
resign kenny miller about 7 times.....ah the need for a 2 line space

Latest I've read on this todayis that Wolves are interested in Holland as well as Ipswich and Hearts.

Whilst Hearts would still offer him top flight???? football it's a long way to move whilst he spent some while at Ipswich but whom aren't looking anything great this season.Seems a 3 horse race is evenly split and I'd like to think Wolves could step in and sign he lad who is a quality player.

Essex Wolf

Another one we aren't interested in then?

We don't need Bentley, we don't want Holland, we're postponing a loan move again. If we fail this season they have made a lot of statements that will come back and haunt them. Saying nothing about rumours would have been the best bet.

The Sun publish a story that we're after Holland.

Local journo asks Hoddle if it's true.

He's hardly likely to say "Yes, we want him" and alert other clubs to the situation, is he? As I read the quote, he's neither confirming nor denying interest.
