Drop Gerrard for Parker. Owen and Heskey up front would have been my choice. Terry and Campbell at the back.

I'd rather play without a right back than have that clown playing for us.

I don't feel that he has done anything to warrant a place in the team over the last 2 years. He was by far our worst player at Euro 2004 aswell.

As proved, this formation doesn't work with Beckham in the holding role.
If you are going to play holding midfielder then play someone who
actually plays in that postion rather than trying to squeeze in a player
who will never be dropped by the manager (Parker for me).

When was it proven that it didn't work Blade, as I've never seen us play 3-5-2 with Beckham in the holding role?
Beckham played very well in both games and having an extra man at the back would give A Cole the chance to get forward more (I actually think he'd be better as a winger).
We'd also have the additional height of Crouch to aim for, something we didn't have against NI

I thought it was proven in our last game, when Beckham was pinging his
80yrd balls which then ruled out Lampard and Gerrard for the rest of the
game. If Beckham is to play then it should be on the right. I agree with
you on Crouch. He's good in the air and his hold up play is excellent.
It will also be interesting to see what Sven does at the back. Rio is playing
kak at the mo.

Those balls created our best chances, although I do agree that we need to mix it up a bit more.I've watched him play the last four games for Madrid in that role and he was nothing short of outstanding.
Admittedly Crouch isn't Ronaldo thoughsmileys/smiley17.gif

Lampard & Garrard just don't work well together. Sven has to chose beween them. Similarly Rooney is too selfish to partner Owen, who needs someone to fed off. Either play Rooney on his own up front or play a less selfish player like Heskey(not Crouch, I just don't get Crouch) together with Owen. You just cannot accommodate all your best players into a team & expect them to gel. Ramsey knew this when we won the World Cup:you sometimes have to sacrifice the most talented players(eg Greaves) for the good of the team.

Owen should start assuming he's fit and Darren Bent is in form at the
moment, Crouch hasn't scored for Liverpool yet so I wouldn't
start with him. Parker hasn't played many games for Newcastle yet
so Gerrard and Lampard have to start in my view. Left side
is still a problem, but Joe Cole has looked ok there in the past so I'd
persevere with him.
